The SABRENT HB-3A4C is a powered USB hub with seven switchable ports: three USB-A and four USB-C, each described as supporting data rates up to 5Gbps. Its headline 20W Power Delivery figure applies to just one of the four USB-C ports; the other ports have lower stated power levels. An included adapter is specified for up to 48W total input. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently tested performance results.
What the HB-3A4C includes
SABRENT’s launch specifications describe a mix of three USB-A ports and four USB-C ports, all rated at 5Gbps. Each port has its own switch and a white LED status indicator. The hub is made with aluminum alloy and comes with an external power adapter.
| Feature | Manufacturer’s stated specification |
|---|---|
| USB-A ports | 3 ports; 5Gbps; 5V/500mA per port |
| USB-C ports | 4 ports; 5Gbps each |
| Power on three USB-C ports | 5V/900mA per port |
| Power on one USB-C port | Up to 20W PD |
| Included adapter | Up to 48W total input |
| Port controls | Individual switches and white LED status indicators |
| Construction | Aluminum alloy |
These figures come from SABRENT’s launch specifications reproduced in a Hartware article published March 26, 2024. They do not establish the charging speed a particular phone, tablet, or other device will achieve. In particular, “20W” is not a rating for all seven ports.

Individual switches let you turn a connected device’s port off without unplugging its cable, which can be convenient for peripherals you do not use continuously. The LEDs provide a visual status indicator. SABRENT’s official video presents the hub for laptops, desktops, and portable devices, and calls its switchable ports “unmatched control”—promotional wording rather than an independent assessment. SABRENT’s product video was published April 1, 2024.
#1 Best Overall
- 7-Port Hub for Maximum Expansion: Add seven USB ports to your Mac, PC, Steam Deck, or ROG Ally. Includes 3 USB-A and 4 USB-C 5Gbps ports (USB 3.2 Gen 1x1) for full connectivity flexibility.
- Independent Power Switches: Each port includes a dedicated on/off switch with white LED indicators for full control over every connected device.
- Fast Power Delivery Support: Three USB-C ports deliver 5V/900mA while the fourth supports up to 20W PD to power high-demand accessories or charge devices.
- Robust Aluminum Build: Durable, heat-dissipating aluminum alloy housing ensures stable performance under load. Includes 48W power adapter for reliable use.
- Universal Compatibility: Works with Windows, macOS, Linux, and most USB-C host devices. Plug-and-play convenience with no drivers required.
The included adapter means the hub is designed to draw external power rather than rely solely on the host’s USB connection. SABRENT specifies up to 48W total input for that adapter; this is not a promise that every port can deliver its maximum stated output simultaneously. The available launch information does not explain power allocation under different combinations of connected devices.
Who may find it useful
- People short on USB ports: the mix of three USB-A and four USB-C connections can accommodate peripherals with either connector, assuming the host and devices are compatible.
- People who want per-port control: separate switches can make it easier to disconnect a peripheral electrically without reaching for its cable.
- People adding a modest charging connection: one USB-C port is specified for up to 20W PD, while the other port power figures are lower. Check the requirements of the device you intend to charge.
- People who prefer a powered hub: the included adapter and stated 48W total input may suit a desk setup with several connected devices, but the launch specifications do not define simultaneous real-world output.
What to check before buying
- Check the host connection. Confirm the computer or other host has a compatible USB connection for the hub. The launch material does not specify a device-by-device host compatibility matrix or establish compatibility with every specific device.
- Match ports to your devices. Count the USB-A and USB-C connections you need and check connector types, since the hub provides three USB-A and four USB-C ports.
- Check data and power needs separately. The stated 5Gbps data rate applies to each listed port. For charging, only one USB-C port is specified for up to 20W PD; the others have the lower stated per-port figures in the table.
- Verify operating-system and device fit. Launch material lists Windows, macOS, and Linux and broadly mentions laptops, desktops, and portable devices. It does not confirm every model, operating-system version, or peripheral.
- Confirm current purchase terms. Check the seller’s current listing for price, availability, warranty, and package contents. BetaNews reported a $54.99 launch price on March 25, 2024; that historical figure is not a current-price indication. BetaNews’ launch report also links to a Newegg product listing, but listing details can change.
What is and is not established about performance
The available coverage consists of launch descriptions, a reproduced press-release excerpt, and SABRENT’s product video; it does not provide independent benchmarks or hands-on testing. The port speeds, power figures, construction, switch behavior, and compatibility statements above should therefore be read as stated product specifications, not independently verified results. There is also no tested comparison with another hub in the available material.
