S.T.E.A.M. City Corp. awarded Everett student Mackenzie Gomez a $1,800 scholarship to support her internship through the Pathway Initiative, according to an announcement published by the Everett Independent on October 7, 2026. The placement connected her with an intensive medical-training program at Tufts Medical Center.
What the scholarship supports
The announcement describes the $1,800 award as support for Gomez’s Pathway Initiative internship. S.T.E.A.M. City worked with the Eliot Family Resource Center in Everett and Pathway Initiative to place her in a program at Tufts Medical Center that gives high school students real-world medical training.
According to the announcement, the placement came together on a short timeline. Eleanor Gayhart, director of the Eliot Family Resource Center, identified Gomez and connected her with Pathway Initiative for evaluation, after which Gomez was enrolled promptly. S.T.E.A.M. City interim director Sioux Gerow credited Gayhart’s role in bringing the collaboration together.
