You unlock the Wolfbane Dagger recipe by communing with a Dragonkin Effigy deep inside Vekchenven Kara, a vault in central Fellhollow. You then craft the dagger at a Blacksmith’s Bench. The unlock route is well described by current guides, but the crafting quantities differ between sources, so check the recipe shown in your own Journal before you gather materials.
Where the Wolfbane Dagger recipe is unlocked
The recipe is not a drop or a shop item. It is unlocked at a Dragonkin Effigy inside Vekchenven Kara, which sits in central Fellhollow. Current route guides use the Lake of Lost Souls as the landmark to start from, and they describe the vault as a sequence of corruption pools and spectral crossings rather than a single room.
Route from Lake of Lost Souls to the effigy
- Travel to the Lake of Lost Souls in central Fellhollow and use it as your reference point.
- Head up toward Hope’s Fall, which leads to the vault entrance.
- Enter the vault and activate the Withered state. The route guide says this is what lets you reveal and use Spectral Bridges and pass through Spectral Doors.
- Before reaching a spectral crossing that needs Withered, step into a corruption pool to gain the state. Crossings that require it will not be usable otherwise.
- Continue through the vault to the Dragonkin Effigy, which holds a blue orb, and commune with it.
Successful communion produces a recipe-unlock notification. That notification is the confirmation to look for; if you do not see it, the interaction has not completed.
Published guides give landmarks and a sequence of steps but no reliable coordinates, so treat any exact map position you find online with caution and rely on the landmarks above.

Crafting the Wolfbane Dagger
After the unlock, return to a Blacksmith’s Bench and select the dagger recipe. The item-specific sources identify the Blacksmith’s Bench as the station for this weapon. The recipe lists the following inputs. The sources disagree on the quantities, so the table shows each one side by side.

The GEGEBASE item database and Games Lantern agree on the quantities above, which is why they are the better-supported figures as of early October 2026. The Nerd’sChalk guide lists lower amounts for three of the four materials. Those figures may reflect an earlier version of the recipe or a different reading of it, but the source does not explain the difference. Your own Journal is the authority: it shows the recipe the game is currently using.

Checking the recipe in your game
- Open the Journal to view the unlocked recipe and its listed requirements.
- At the Blacksmith’s Bench, the crafting interface shows each required resource and whether you currently have enough of it.
- Craft only when every line is marked as available. The interface does not allow crafting while a resource is missing.
How crafting works at this station
Jagex’s crafting help describes the general crafting interface: it lists recipes and requirements, shows whether you have the resources, and enables crafting when they are met. The same help article says durability items can be repaired at a Crafting Table and that recipes can be reviewed in the Journal. Jagex’s help refers to the Crafting Table, while the item sources name the Blacksmith’s Bench for this dagger, so check which bench your recipe list uses if the station is not where you expect.

Wolfbane Dagger stats and what it is for
A third-party item database describes the Wolfbane Dagger with the following figures. These come from that database rather than an official Jagex item page, so treat them as reported values.

The weapon is a wolf-specialized item, so its value depends on fighting wolves. For general combat, compare it against other daggers on base damage, attack pattern, and any upgrade path rather than on the wolf bonus alone. The available sources do not establish that it outperforms other daggers overall.
Game context
Jagex announced that RuneScape: Dragonwilds 1.0 launched on September 15, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Jagex describes the game as an open-world co-op crafting and survival title and reports that Early Access sales passed one million, according to its 2026 announcement. Those details describe the game as a whole; they do not confirm anything specific to the Wolfbane Dagger.
