RuneScape: Dragonwilds requires a 64-bit Windows 10 PC, 8 GB of RAM, and at least a GTX 1060 with 6 GB of VRAM or a listed AMD or Intel alternative. Jagex recommends 16 GB of RAM and a stronger graphics card, but its support pages disagree on the recommended CPU and GPU details. Check both the component list and that discrepancy before buying parts; the published requirements do not promise a particular frame rate.
Can my PC run RuneScape: Dragonwilds?
Compare your PC against every item in Jagex’s Installation and Technical Requirements, not just the graphics card. The page lists Windows 10 64-bit and DirectX 12 for both tiers, and 25 GB of available storage. Its recommended tier adds a broadband internet connection. These are published configurations, not measured performance results.

Steam’s store listing repeats the installation page’s CPU and GPU figures and other requirements. A PC that falls below one listed component should not be assumed to meet the minimum just because another component exceeds it. Check 64-bit OS support, processor, RAM, GPU model and VRAM, DirectX 12 support, and available storage.
Why Jagex’s recommended specifications differ
Jagex’s separate Performance issues page gives different recommended values: a Ryzen 5 5600X or Intel equivalent, an RTX 2070 8 GB or AMD equivalent, and an SSD preferred. It also describes the minimum CPU and GPU more generally as an i3-8100 or AMD equivalent and GTX 1060 6 GB or AMD equivalent.

The Installation and Technical Requirements page and Steam agree with each other; Jagex’s troubleshooting page does not. The pages do not explain the difference. If you are deciding whether to upgrade or purchasing a PC, use the exact figures on the current official requirements page and verify them again before spending money rather than combining the two recommendations into one specification.
Does RuneScape: Dragonwilds need an SSD?
Jagex specifies 25 GB of available storage, but does not require an SSD on its Installation and Technical Requirements page. Its Performance issues page says an SSD is preferred. That supports choosing SSD storage if you are selecting a drive or already need more space; it does not establish that an SSD is mandatory or guarantee a frame-rate increase.

What settings and checks can help if performance is poor?
Jagex’s PC troubleshooting guidance recommends adjusting the game’s video quality, reducing other workload, and checking drivers, Windows updates, and power management. It does not identify a universally best preset or quantify the FPS gain from any one setting.
- Lower the in-game quality: open Main Menu → Settings → Video and choose a lower Quality option. If performance remains poor, try a lower option again, then adjust other video settings to balance appearance and performance.
- Close unused applications: quit programs that are not in use while playing.
- Check your graphics card and driver: press Windows + R, enter
DxDiag, and open the Display tab to identify the graphics-card model. Get the driver from the GPU maker, install it, and restart the PC. - Update Windows: check for and install available Windows updates.
- Review Windows power management: Jagex says Balanced raises CPU speed when needed, while High Performance keeps CPU speed higher more of the time. Its support page describes creating a High performance plan; the best choice can depend on your PC and power use.
- Separate connection trouble from graphics performance: if the problem affects online play, use Jagex’s connection troubleshooting guidance. If the issue persists, report a possible bug to Jagex.
Should you upgrade a component?
Start by identifying which requirement your PC misses. If it is below minimum, the published specifications provide a reason to investigate a compatible upgrade, but they do not prove which replacement is necessary or what improvement it will deliver. Check motherboard and system compatibility, the cost of the component, and whether other parts also fall short before buying. Do not treat the recommended tier as a guaranteed target for a particular resolution or FPS: Jagex’s cited pages provide no benchmark results or FPS guarantee.

Which PC versions are covered?
The requirements above are for Windows PC. Jagex’s 5 June 2026 full launch announcement set the 1.0 launch for 15 September 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S; it identifies Steam and Epic Games Store for PC. Jagex’s installation page documents Steam and Jagex Launcher installs and says a purchase on one does not provide access to the other, so confirm the storefront and install route you intend to use.
