If you meant FastFlowLM by “OpenFlowLM,” Fedora has an installation route for it: a community-maintained COPR package. It is unofficial, and the documented FastFlowLM Linux NPU path requires an XDNA2 processor. Check your exact Ryzen AI generation before installing; Ryzen AI 7000-, 8000-, and 200-series devices use XDNA1 and are not supported by this path.
First, confirm the project name and your NPU generation
The available Fedora packaging and Linux NPU instructions are for FastFlowLM (FLM); they do not verify a separate project called OpenFlowLM. The guide below applies if FastFlowLM is the runtime you intended.
FastFlowLM’s Linux documentation lists these supported XDNA2 families:
- Ryzen AI 300 series: Strix Point and Kraken Point
- Ryzen AI Max 300 series: Strix Halo
- Ryzen AI 400 series: Gorgon Point
- Ryzen Z2 Extreme
Ryzen AI 7000, 8000, and 200 series use XDNA1 and are not supported by this FastFlowLM Linux NPU route. Because “Ryzen AI” alone does not establish which NPU generation a computer has, check the processor model in your system before proceeding. See the FastFlowLM Linux setup guide.

Install FastFlowLM on Fedora through the community COPR
The Fedora route is a COPR repository maintained by the community, not an AMD- or Fedora-supported package. Its maintainer says the repository is unofficial and is not affiliated with or supported by AMD or FastFlowLM. The following sequence reflects the repository README; check it for current instructions before use: FastFlowLM Fedora COPR README.
-
Enable the COPR repository:
sudo dnf copr enable alessandrolattao/fastflowlm -
Install the package:
sudo dnf install fastflowlm -
Reboot so the installed components can take effect.

Run the validation command:
flm validate -
Start a model by substituting a supported model tag:
flm run <model-tag>
Model availability can change, so use a tag supported by the current FastFlowLM catalog and package version rather than assuming any arbitrary model name will work.

What the validation checks—and what it does not
FastFlowLM’s Linux guide separates two parts of the NPU path. flm validate checks the kernel DRM path; model execution through flm run uses XRT. A successful validation therefore does not by itself prove that XRT can access the NPU for inference.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →The Linux guide lists these prerequisites:
- NPU firmware version 1.1.0.0 or later
- An
amdxdnadriver, using kernel 7.0 or later oramdxdna-dkms - The required runtime components
- A sufficiently high memory-lock limit (
memlock)
If validation succeeds but running a model fails with No such device with index '0', check whether XRT can see the NPU and whether the distribution’s AMD XDNA XRT plugin is installed. The FastFlowLM Linux guide describes the issue, but does not establish Fedora-specific package names or repair commands; do not assume Ubuntu or Arch instructions map directly to Fedora. See FastFlowLM’s Linux setup and troubleshooting guidance.
Understand what “running on the NPU” means
Not every AMD local-LLM workflow uses the NPU in the same way. AMD’s material distinguishes hybrid execution—NPU prefill followed by iGPU token generation—from FastFlowLM NPU-only models. These are different execution modes, not interchangeable descriptions of one setup. AMD’s Lemonade playbook names hybrid (OGA), Ryzen AI LLM NPU-only, and FLM modes: AMD Lemonade getting-started playbook.

AMD’s Ryzen AI documentation also says that llama.cpp at the documented low-level API layer is supported for iGPU, not as an NPU-only path. Choosing a model runner or backend therefore matters as much as owning a compatible NPU. See AMD Ryzen AI Software documentation.
Scope and support expectations
AMD describes Ryzen AI Software as a collection of tools and runtime libraries for optimizing and deploying inference on Ryzen AI PCs. That does not make this particular Fedora COPR package an official AMD or Fedora distribution. The Linux setup guide covers general Linux and includes Ubuntu and Arch context, but does not establish a tested Fedora release matrix. Fedora kernel, driver, firmware, and XRT plugin compatibility can vary; the linked package README and Linux guide are the relevant places to check for current project instructions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFastFlowLM’s project overview and AMD’s GAIA NPU guide provide additional context on the runtime and XDNA2 backend: ROCm/FastFlowLM and AMD GAIA NPU guide. Neither a compatible processor nor a successful validation command alone establishes a particular model’s performance or guarantees that every Fedora system will run it successfully.
