Rubrik’s partnership with Mandiant, announced August 7, 2024, links threat intelligence, backup analysis, clean-room recovery and coordinated response. Mandiant helps investigate active breaches, while Rubrik contributes backup visibility and data-recovery expertise. Together, the described workflow is designed to help organizations identify a trustworthy recovery point and restore operations without reintroducing malware.
What the Rubrik–Mandiant partnership includes
The announcement describes three connected capabilities rather than a single product:
- Mandiant threat intelligence incorporated into Rubrik Security Cloud’s Threat Monitoring capability.
- Clean Room Recovery in Google Cloud or other multicloud environments.
- Coordinated Rubrik ransomware-response and Mandiant incident-response services for joint customers.
Rubrik’s announcement names Enterprise Edition customers, and Rubrik’s accompanying blog also refers to Enterprise Proactive Edition. Those edition references reflect statements made in 2024; current licensing and availability should be confirmed with Rubrik.

How the workflow supports recovery after an attack
1. Apply current threat intelligence to backup monitoring
Threat actors can leave backdoors, malicious tools or altered data inside backup sets. Rubrik said Mandiant intelligence about breaking intrusions, active campaigns and evolving threats was integrated into Rubrik Security Cloud Threat Monitoring. The stated purpose is to examine backups for indicators associated with known threats and help locate a safer recovery point.

2. Recover in a clean environment
Rubrik’s Clean Room Recovery concept uses an isolated Google Cloud environment or another multicloud environment selected by the customer. The separation matters because restoring directly into the production environment can carry malicious content back into systems that are still being investigated.

A clean room gives responders a place to restore and examine data, validate applications and prepare a controlled return to service. The announcement does not define a universal isolation architecture, recovery-time objective or guaranteed outcome, so implementation details must be agreed for each organization.

Mandiant’s Incident Response team is positioned to investigate and respond to an active breach. Rubrik’s Ransomware Response Team contributes knowledge of backup integrity, recovery points and data restoration. For joint customers, the teams can coordinate those activities instead of treating incident investigation and recovery as separate projects.

Rubrik’s blog additionally says customers needing incident-response services would have access to Mandiant Consulting. The cited announcements do not state pricing, eligibility rules, service-level guarantees or response-time commitments.

What organizations should verify before relying on the capability
- Edition and feature access: Confirm whether the required Threat Monitoring and recovery functions are included in the organization’s current Rubrik edition and contract.
- Cloud design: Define which Google Cloud or multicloud account, region, identity controls, networking and logging will host the clean environment.
- Recovery validation: Establish how teams will scan restored systems, check application dependencies and approve a return to production.
- Roles and escalation: Document when Mandiant leads breach investigation, when Rubrik leads recovery tasks and who has authority to declare a recovery point safe.
- Commercial terms: Obtain current statements for Mandiant Consulting availability, customer eligibility, pricing and service levels; the 2024 announcements do not provide them.
The separate Google Cloud isolated-recovery work announced in 2025
On April 9, 2025, Rubrik described a cloud-based isolated-recovery solution on Google Cloud as being developed. That description paired Rubrik Data Threat Analytics and Orchestrated Application Recovery Playbooks with periodic Mandiant security assessments and incident-response services.

Because Rubrik characterized the solution as in development, it should not be presented as generally available solely on the basis of that announcement. Ask Rubrik for its current release status, supported workloads, required Google Cloud services and licensing before including it in an operational plan.
What the announcements do—and do not—prove
The documented value is architectural: threat intelligence is applied to backups, recovery can occur in a separate cloud environment, and specialist teams can coordinate investigation with restoration. The announcements provide no measured reduction in recovery time, no independent efficacy study and no central performance metric. “Accelerated” should therefore be understood as the intended benefit of coordinated capabilities, not a guaranteed number of minutes or hours saved.
