Rubbermaid Brilliance Glass food-storage containers pair a glass base with a plastic latching lid. Rubbermaid says the containers are BPA-free, airtight and leakproof, and designed to resist stains and odors; those are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. What Rubbermaid Brilliance Glass containers are
These are not all-glass containers. Each has a glass food-storage base and a plastic lid with latches. Rubbermaid describes the product as BPA-free and says its glass and lids resist stains and odors. That may appeal if plastic containers you own have become discolored or hold smells, but “resistant” is not a guarantee that a container can never stain or retain an odor.
Rubbermaid also calls the latching seal airtight and leakproof. That is the company’s product claim; the sources cited here do not include independent leak testing. The product page describes vented lids for splatter-resistant microwave use. See the Brilliance Glass set details.

“BPA-free” is a specific statement about BPA, not proof that every component is non-toxic in every sense or under every condition. If avoiding plastic entirely is your priority, the plastic lid means this product does not meet that requirement.

What can go in the oven, microwave, dishwasher, and freezer?
The glass base and plastic lid do not share the same heat limits. Follow the care instructions for the component you are using, rather than treating the assembled container as uniformly oven- or microwave-safe.

The temperature-transition warning matters: Rubbermaid’s Glass Brilliance instructions state, “Do not take product directly from freezer to oven or microwave.” Allow for a safer transition rather than moving a frozen container straight into either appliance. Which set is the 4.7-cup option?
Rubbermaid lists a medium rectangular Brilliance Glass set as a three-pack, with each container sized at 4.7 cups. The product page repeats the 450°F glass-base rating and the company’s stain-, odor-, and leak-resistance claims. It is a reasonable option if you want a glass base for food storage and reheating, and are comfortable keeping a plastic lid in the mix. Rubbermaid’s resistance and leakproof claims address common container annoyances, but they should be understood as manufacturer descriptions rather than independently verified guarantees. Choose another design if you need an all-glass system or routinely transfer containers directly from freezer to oven or microwave.
