Roku has a documented hidden screen, but it is for app developers—not a shortcut to faster streaming or extra consumer settings. Roku’s developer-mode sequence opens the Development Application Installer workflow; a separate Roku TV Ready test screen is limited to specially prepared test firmware. Many other “Roku secret menu” codes repeated online are not confirmed for current retail players and TVs.
What Roku’s “secret menus” actually do
The label covers screens with different purposes and access limits. Use the distinction below before entering a code or changing a setting.
| Screen or feature | Purpose | Who can access it | What it means for ordinary users |
|---|---|---|---|
| Developer mode | Sideload, run, test, and debug apps | Roku devices where the documented setup is available | Not a performance boost or normal streaming-settings menu |
| Roku TV Ready Secret Screen | Specialized testing | Roku TVs running designated test firmware | Not established as available on ordinary retail firmware |
| Commonly circulated Wi-Fi, diagnostics, bitrate, HDMI, channel-version, or reboot screens | Claims vary | Availability on current retail devices is not established by Roku’s cited documentation | Do not assume a code works on your model or that its options are safe to change |
| Home screen shortcuts and Roku Labs | Ordinary navigation and access to experimental apps | Supported routes; Labs availability depends on eligible devices and current offering | Use these routes for consumer features rather than relying on unverified codes |
How to open Roku developer mode
Roku’s developer documentation gives this button sequence using a Roku remote or the Roku remote app:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- From the Home screen, press Home three times.
- Press Up twice.
- Press Right, Left, Right, Left, Right.
- Follow the Development Application Installer workflow. Review and accept the Developer Tools License Agreement, then set a device password as prompted.
Roku describes the feature as a way to sideload apps and run, test, and debug them. As Roku Developer puts it, “Once you get a Roku device and enroll in the Roku developer program, you can put your device in developer mode, sideload apps using the Roku web plug-in, and then run sample apps and test and debug your app.” Roku’s developer setup guide explains the workflow.

Which other Roku secret-screen codes are documented?
A legacy sequence in Roku developer release notes
Roku developer release notes preserve a historical sequence—Home five times, Fast Forward three times, then Rewind twice—in a narrow old setup scenario involving the Streaming Store linking screen. The notes describe cycling a channel-store server setting in that context and warn that the software-update options on the screen were server-controlled and not functional for developers. That is historical documentation, not a promise that the screen works on current retail software. Do not change unfamiliar server or update options. See the Roku developer release notes.

Roku TV Ready test screen
The Roku TV Ready Technical Reference Manual lists another sequence: Home five times, then Up, Right, Up, Right, Up. The manual says the screen is available only on TVs running specially prepared test firmware with additional debug features, obtained through the developer portal. The sequence is not evidence that the screen will work on a normal retail Roku TV. Consult the Roku TV Ready Technical Reference Manual for its test-firmware context.
What to use for shortcuts or experimental apps
Show or hide Home screen shortcuts
For the shortcut tiles on the Home screen, Roku Support documents Home > Settings > Home screen > Shortcuts. These are distinct from preset or personalized shortcut buttons on a remote. Follow the Roku Support instructions for managing Home screen shortcuts.

Try Roku Labs
Roku’s feature page, dated October 2, 2026, says Roku Labs provides early access to experimental apps and is added from the Streaming Store. The launch examples—Weather, Stocks, and Find My Remote—are listed for eligible devices; availability can change. Check Roku’s Roku Labs feature page for current details.
When to reset a Roku—and which reset to choose
For a network problem, try the network connection reset
If the issue is network connectivity, the Roku TV User Guide v15.0 documents a network connection reset at Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Network connection reset. This resets network connection information; it is not a full factory reset. Menu availability and instructions can vary by model, so check your device’s guide. See the Roku TV User Guide.

Factory reset only when you intend to erase and set up again
A factory reset removes preferences, unlinks the device from your Roku account, removes apps and account information, and returns the device to initial setup. Roku says procedures vary by device and TV model. Before starting, have your Roku account and Wi-Fi details available, along with the sign-in information needed for your apps. Follow Roku Support’s factory-reset instructions for your model.

Are Roku Wi-Fi and diagnostics secret menus real?
Roku’s cited official documentation does not establish that commonly circulated Wi-Fi secret screens, platform diagnostics, bitrate controls, HDMI information, channel-version screens, or reboot sequences work across current retail Roku players and TVs. That does not prove no code works on any model or software version; it means availability and behavior are not confirmed here. Treat a code found online as model- and software-dependent unless Roku documents it for your device. Be especially cautious with options that may alter connectivity, server settings, or device state.
