There is no universal winner: choose by your TV’s resolution and HDR support, the network connection you need, the streaming services your household uses, and the remote or smart-home features you value. For a direct comparison, “Chromecast” means Chromecast with Google TV; Google TV Streamer (4K) is a separate Google device and a relevant alternative. The specifications below come from official US product pages, not comparative performance tests, and availability can vary by country.

At a glance: which device fits your setup?

Device Best fit based on published features Key checks
Roku Streaming Stick 4K A 4K TV owner seeking Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support in a compact stick. Confirm the TV supports the HDR formats you want; Roku lists dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
Fire TV Stick 4K, 3rd Gen (2026) A buyer seeking the features Amazon lists for its 2026 4K model, including Wi-Fi 6 and multiple HDR formats. Distinguish it from Fire TV Stick 4K Select (2025), which Amazon says does not support HDR.
Chromecast with Google TV A buyer considering Google’s Chromecast with Google TV and its voice remote. Google’s comparison lists 8 GB storage and 2 GB memory; verify local availability and service compatibility.
Google TV Streamer (4K) A buyer who wants Google TV with a wired Ethernet port, more listed storage and memory, or Matter and Thread features. It is not Chromecast with Google TV. Confirm HDMI, network, and display compatibility.
Roku Ultra A Roku buyer who wants the comparison page’s additional connectivity and remote features. Check the current model’s included configuration and live price.

These are feature-based matches, not rankings of speed, ease of use, or picture quality in real-world conditions. The manufacturers’ pages do not establish those outcomes.

Check resolution and HDR before paying for 4K

A 4K streaming device is most useful with a 4K TV. HDR is a separate compatibility question: a 4K label alone does not guarantee support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, or another HDR format. The Roku Streaming Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K 3rd Gen (2026), and Google TV Streamer list multiple HDR formats, but your TV and the content must support the format for you to benefit.

Roku lists its Streaming Stick as an HD option and describes the Streaming Stick Plus as a 4K HDR option. Its Streaming Stick 4K product page specifies output up to 2160p at 60 fps and HDR formats including Dolby Vision, HDR10/10+, and HLG when used with compatible equipment. Amazon lists Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG for the 2026 Fire TV Stick 4K, while its 2025 4K Select entry says HDR is not supported. Google lists the Streamer for up to 4K HDR at 60 fps, with Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG; its comparison page lists Chromecast with Google TV at up to 4K with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.

Decide whether Wi-Fi is enough

For a wireless setup, compare the listed Wi-Fi standards with your router and home network; the standard alone does not establish which device will stream faster in your home. If you want Ethernet, the cited pages list it for Roku Ultra and Google TV Streamer. Amazon lists Ethernet for the 2026 Fire TV Stick 4K through an external dongle. Check whether that accessory is included or must be obtained separately in your market.

Roku: pick the right tier

Roku’s US comparison page lists the Streaming Stick, Streaming Stick Plus, Streaming Stick 4K, Roku Ultra, and Streambar SE. Roku positions these across HD, 4K HDR, and broader-feature use cases. The detailed Streaming Stick 4K page identifies model 3820R2 and lists HDMI 2.0b, dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, a slim design, and a voice remote with TV controls. Roku’s comparison highlights Ultra’s Wi-Fi 6, Ethernet, USB, and Voice Remote Pro. Remote inclusions and exact features vary by model, so check the listing for the specific device.

Fire TV: “4K” and “4K Select” are not interchangeable

Amazon’s technical specifications page, last updated September 30, 2026, lists “Fire TV Stick 4K – 3rd Gen (2026),” model AFTCR001, separately from “Fire TV Stick 4K Select (2025).” The 2026 model is listed with Vega OS 2.0, HDMI 2.1, USB-C, 8 GB storage, 1 GB RAM, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2. The 2025 Select is listed with Vega OS 1.1 and without HDR support. Confirm the full model name and generation on the product listing rather than relying on “Fire TV Stick 4K” shorthand.

On the 2026 model, Amazon describes Alexa control through the remote’s microphone button and far-field Alexa control through a linked Echo device. These are different ways of controlling the device; the Echo-based feature depends on having a linked Echo.

Google: Chromecast with Google TV is distinct from Google TV Streamer

Google’s comparison page lists both products. Chromecast with Google TV has a voice remote, 8 GB storage, and 2 GB memory in that comparison. Google TV Streamer has a voice remote with a customizable button and Find My Remote, plus 32 GB storage and 4 GB memory. Those figures describe listed capacity, not a standalone measure of responsiveness.

The Streamer’s specifications include Android TV OS, USB-C, HDMI 2.1, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and a 1 Gbps Ethernet port. Google also lists Matter and Thread border-router functionality. Its support page says the device works with a TV or display that has HDMI and recommends a 4K TV for the best experience. Google’s pages do not establish that Chromecast with Google TV remains available in every region.

Compare remotes and smart-home features

Consider how you want to control the device and which smart-home ecosystem you already use. Roku says its players work with Siri, Alexa, and Google. Amazon documents Alexa control on Fire TV, with the 2026 model using the remote’s mic button or a linked Echo for far-field control. Google lists a customizable remote button and Find My Remote for the Streamer, and Matter and Thread connectivity for that device. These listed features do not guarantee compatibility with every smart-home product.

Remote features differ by model and bundle. Roku highlights Voice Remote Pro on Ultra, Amazon specifies the mic-button remote control for the 2026 Fire TV Stick 4K, and Google lists a voice remote for Chromecast with Google TV. Check what is included with the exact model rather than assuming all devices in a product family have the same remote.

Verify apps, price, and local availability

Before buying, confirm that the apps and services you actually use are available for the exact device in your country. The cited product specifications do not establish app-by-app compatibility. Regional release dates, stock, bundles, and prices can also differ, and manufacturer pages are not a live retailer price survey.

  1. Check the TV: confirm its resolution, HDR formats, and available HDMI input.
  2. Check the connection: decide whether Wi-Fi is sufficient or whether you need Ethernet, including any adapter required.
  3. Confirm the model name: especially distinguish Fire TV Stick 4K 3rd Gen (2026) from 4K Select (2025), and Chromecast with Google TV from Google TV Streamer.
  4. Check the household’s services: verify app availability for the device and region before purchase.
  5. Compare the actual listing: check live price, stock, included remote, and bundle contents in your market.

What the specifications can—and cannot—tell you

The official pages establish advertised formats, connections, platform details, memory and storage where published, and selected remote and smart-home features. They do not demonstrate which interface is easiest, which device launches apps fastest, or which streams most reliably under your home’s conditions. Roku’s cited material does not provide comparable memory or storage figures for its listed sticks. Do not treat Google’s higher listed storage and memory, or any Wi-Fi standard, as an independent performance verdict.
