The Roku 55-inch Pro Series OLED (model 55RAD5) is a 4K OLED TV with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDMI 2.1, FreeSync Premium, and support for gaming up to 4K at 120fps. Its appeal is a lower price than many premium OLEDs: Roku lists it at $999.99, and TechRadar reported an Amazon deal price of $699.99 on October 6, 2026. The trade-off is brightness: TechRadar’s tests found limited output, and its reviewer warned that reflections can overwhelm the picture in bright rooms.
What the Roku 55-inch Pro Series OLED is
The 55RAD5 is the base 55-inch model in Roku’s Pro Series OLED range. Its screen measures 54.6 inches diagonally. Roku lists 4K resolution, OLED, a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Atmos support, and a 300 × 200 mm VESA mounting pattern. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Roku’s product page has the model details.
OLED’s self-emissive pixels can produce deep blacks, a strength TechRadar’s reviewer praised after using the TV for a couple of weeks with streaming, movies, music, and PS5 games. That review is one reviewer’s assessment, not a guarantee of identical results in every room or with every unit. TechRadar’s review describes its testing and viewing impressions.

For the base 55RAD5, Roku lists a 120Hz panel, HDMI 2.1, FreeSync Premium, and gaming up to 4K at 120fps. That is a strong feature set for current consoles and capable gaming PCs. Roku’s “up to” figure describes supported capability; actual frame rates depend on the game, source device, settings, and connection.

Do not confuse the base OLED with the Pro Series LX. Roku identifies the LX as model 55RCD5 and lists up to 144Hz VRR for that model. The 144Hz claim does not apply to the 55RAD5. The model distinction and gaming specifications appear on Roku’s specifications page.
Picture quality: OLED contrast, with a brightness caveat
TechRadar measured the TV in two HDR modes. These are the publication’s results, not Roku specifications, and the window size matters because OLED brightness changes with how much of the screen is bright.

Those measurements help explain the main environmental limitation. TechRadar’s reviewer found that limited brightness made reflections liable to overpower the image in a bright room. If the TV will face windows, strong overhead lighting, or other persistent glare, that is a meaningful drawback; in a dimmer viewing space, OLED’s black levels are more likely to be the attraction.
Mode choice also matters when comparing reviews. Tom’s Guide notes that the Roku lacks Filmmaker Mode; its own measurements used Movie mode for SDR and HDR Dark with Display Brightness set to Brighter for HDR. Price and value
Roku lists the 55-inch 55RAD5 at $999.99. TechRadar’s page showed an Amazon deal price of $699.99 on October 6, 2026; that is a dated offer, not a guaranteed current price. Check the price and exact model at purchase rather than assuming the deal remains available.
For context only, Tom’s Guide reported the Roku at $999 and the LG C6 and Samsung S90H at $1,499 each when its comparison was published. Those are publication-time prices, not current quotes, and pricing can change independently by retailer and date. The useful value question is whether the Roku’s lower price outweighs its brightness and audio compromises for your room and use.

Roku’s launch positioning emphasized making OLED more accessible. Roku Vice President of Retail Strategy Chris Larson said the company saw an opportunity to remove a cost barrier to OLED. That is the manufacturer’s stated aim, rather than independent evidence that this set matches more expensive models in every respect. What Hi-Fi?’s launch coverage carries the statement.

Although Roku lists Dolby Atmos support, that format-support claim does not establish how convincing the TV’s built-in speakers sound. TechRadar’s reviewer found limited low-end response. Viewers who want stronger bass or fuller sound may prefer to add a soundbar, but the review does not establish that one is necessary for every listener.

For wall mounting, Roku lists a 300 × 200 mm VESA pattern. Confirm that a mount supports the TV’s weight and mounting requirements before buying; the pattern alone does not establish compatibility with every mount. TechRadar also noted less convenient cable management than the prior design, a practical consideration if the rear of the TV will be difficult to access.
Who should buy it?
- Consider it if you want OLED contrast and 4K/120Hz gaming features at a price below many premium OLED sets, and your room can be kept reasonably free of glare.
- Look elsewhere if the TV must overcome substantial daylight or reflections, or if bright HDR impact is a higher priority than the price advantage.
- Plan for external audio if strong bass is important to your films, games, or music; the built-in audio’s low-end limitation was noted in TechRadar’s review.
- Check the exact model if you are shopping specifically for 144Hz VRR: that is listed for the LX, not this 55RAD5 base model.
Verdict
The Roku 55-inch Pro Series OLED offers a compelling entry price for a 4K OLED with 120Hz gaming support, HDMI 2.1, and FreeSync Premium. Its strongest case is value in a controlled-light room. The brightness measurements and reflection concerns make it a less convincing fit for bright spaces, while limited low-end sound may lead some buyers to add a soundbar. At the dated $699.99 offer reported by TechRadar, it was especially aggressive value; at Roku’s $999.99 listed price, the room and feature trade-offs deserve closer consideration.
