Rogers Communications completed its purchase of Kilmer Sports Inc.’s remaining 25% interest in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) on October 1, 2026, for C$4.35 billion. Rogers now owns 100% of MLSE. The deal brings the Maple Leafs, Raptors, Toronto FC and other MLSE assets under full Rogers ownership, but the company says it is business as usual during an interim period.
What does Rogers’ purchase of MLSE mean?
It changes who owns MLSE: Rogers has moved from a 75% majority stake to full ownership by buying the remaining 25% from Kilmer Sports Inc. for C$4.35 billion. Rogers had announced an agreement for the Kilmer stake on July 6, 2026, when league approvals were still required and a fourth-quarter close was expected. That timetable is superseded by the October 1 completion announcement. Rogers’ July 2026 announcement

Does Rogers now own the Maple Leafs and Raptors?
Yes. The Maple Leafs and Raptors are among the teams owned by MLSE, and Rogers now owns MLSE outright. The October completion announcement also lists Toronto FC, the Toronto Argonauts, development teams affiliated with MLSE’s NHL and NBA teams, Scotiabank Arena, and MLSE’s partnership with Live Nation. What changes for teams, fans and broadcasts?
Operations: business as usual during the interim
Rogers says operations remain business as usual during the interim. Keith Pelley remains MLSE President and CEO, and Mark Shapiro remains Toronto Blue Jays President and CEO. Pelley also takes on additional accountability for Rogers Media, effective immediately. Fan investment: stated intentions, not a schedule
When it announced the Kilmer agreement, Rogers said it intended to invest in improving fan experiences and expanding affordable ticket options, giveaways and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Those are Rogers’ stated plans; the announcement provided no schedule, eligibility rules or prices, and does not establish that these initiatives have been implemented. Rogers’ July 2026 announcement
Broadcasting: no announced change in the deal material
The completion announcement does not say that the acquisition changes TV rights, broadcast carriage or streaming availability. Ownership alone is not evidence that viewers’ access has changed.

What Rogers says it plans to do next
Rogers says it will create Rogers Sports, a business unit bringing together its sports, media and entertainment businesses, including MLSE and the Blue Jays. Rogers CEO Tony Staffieri said the company aims to “deliver more for fans, audiences, and customers.” Executive Chair Edward Rogers described the company’s responsibility to fans as personal.
