Rogers and the Eastern Ontario Regional Network (EORN) announced on December 8, 2025 that 34 newly completed towers were offering Rogers 5G service in parts of eastern Ontario. The announcement refers to 34 towers—not 34 individually named communities—and lists service in parts of 15 jurisdictions. The towers had been completed since April 30, 2025.
Where the 34 towers provide service
Rogers and EORN said the new sites were serving residents, businesses and visitors in parts of these jurisdictions:
- City of Kawartha Lakes
- United Counties of Prescott and Russell
- County of Frontenac
- County of Prince Edward
- County of Hastings
- City of Quinte West
- County of Lanark
- Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation
- County of Northumberland
- Curve Lake First Nation
- County of Peterborough
- Hiawatha First Nation
- County of Renfrew
- Township of South Algonquin
- County of Lennox and Addington
The announcement does not identify all 34 communities individually. “In parts of” is important: a tower announcement does not guarantee 5G at every address, road segment or destination within a county, city or First Nation.

How this fits the EORN Cell Gap Project
The 34-tower milestone was one stage of the $300-million EORN Cell Gap Project, a public-private effort to improve rural cellular coverage across eastern Ontario.
| Milestone | What was reported |
|---|---|
| December 8, 2025 | 34 towers announced as operational; the towers had been completed since April 30, 2025. |
| May 6, 2026 | An interim update reported 40 additional towers completed since November 30, 2025, serving 14 more communities. |
| August 20, 2026 | EORN announced successful project delivery: 346 new wireless sites, including new builds and colocations, plus 311 existing sites upgraded with 5G equipment. |
The final reported funding was $71 million from the federal government, $71 million from the provincial government, $10 million collectively from municipal members, and $150 million from Rogers, according to EORN’s August 20, 2026 completion announcement. The earlier 2025 announcement gave a rounded account of approximately $152 million in public and municipal funding, with Rogers contributing the balance.

What coverage the project was designed to achieve
EORN defined demand-area targets of 99% voice-call coverage, 95% standard-definition coverage and 85% high-definition coverage in areas where people live and work and on major roadways across participating municipal areas. These are project targets, not measured results published for every address and not a guarantee of service at every location.
Actual performance can vary with terrain, buildings, vegetation, weather and other environmental conditions, as well as network availability and capacity, signal strength, the phone and operating system. Rogers says its coverage map is approximate.

What you need to connect to Rogers 5G
Rogers’ requirements are cumulative. You need all of the following:
- A location inside a Rogers 5G or 5G+ coverage area.
- An eligible Rogers 5G mobile plan.
- A compatible 5G phone or other supported device.
- A compatible SIM.
When those conditions are met, the device normally connects automatically. Rogers says its mobile plans include 5G and 5G+ access at no extra charge. Buying a compatible phone by itself is not enough: the network must be available where you are, and your plan and SIM must qualify. Rogers also says its 5G network is not available in Extended Coverage areas. See the Rogers 5G network FAQ for current device, plan and SIM guidance.

How to check a particular home, road or destination
- Open the Rogers coverage map.
- Search for the address or zoom to the road, property or destination.
- Check whether the map shows native Rogers 5G or 5G+ coverage rather than relying on the name of a nearby county or tower announcement.
- Confirm that your plan, device and SIM support 5G.
- If service matters for work, travel or emergency communications, test the exact location and route: mapped coverage is approximate and can differ indoors, behind terrain or at the edge of a coverage area.
What the announcement means for eastern Ontario users
The December 2025 news established that 34 newly completed towers were live in parts of 15 listed jurisdictions. It did not establish universal coverage across those jurisdictions. The later August 2026 completion announcement shows the broader project reached 346 new or colocated sites and 311 upgraded existing sites, but customers still need to verify their own address and meet Rogers’ technical and plan requirements.
