What Rivian reported for Q3
An October 2, 2026 report syndicated by Yahoo Finance said Rivian announced its Q3 production and delivery figures and that both topped expectations. However, the accessible report text does not show the production or delivery counts, or specify whether the comparison was with analyst consensus, company guidance, or another estimate.

Those comparisons are not interchangeable: actual deliveries can exceed Rivian’s own outlook without exceeding analyst consensus, or vice versa. Without the figures and a named benchmark, the report supports the broad claim that results topped expectations but not a numerical beat calculation. Rivian’s original October 2 release would be needed to confirm the quarter’s totals.

The October 2 report said Rivian reaffirmed its full-year 2026 delivery guidance at 65,000–70,000 vehicles. This is management guidance, not a guarantee of deliveries. In its July 2 delivery announcement, Rivian cautioned that forward-looking statements depend on company expectations and projections, involve known and unknown risks, and should not be relied on unduly.

How the range changed
On July 2, Rivian reported 12,613 vehicles produced and 12,194 delivered in Q2. The company said deliveries were above its own Q2 outlook of 9,000–11,000 vehicles and raised its 2026 delivery guidance from 62,000–67,000 to 65,000–70,000.
What the reaffirmation does—and does not—cover
Rivian’s July 30 Q2 results release also listed 2026 outlook ranges of negative $2.00–$1.80 billion for adjusted EBITDA and $1.70–$1.80 billion for capital expenditures. The October 2 report confirms reaffirmation of the delivery range only; it does not establish that Rivian reaffirmed either of those other outlook ranges that day.

The Q2 results provide context for Rivian’s business, but not evidence of Q3 profitability: the company reported Q2 revenue of $1.658 billion and gross profit of $179 million. Rivian also said external deliveries of its R2 began in June 2026. Neither Q2 financial figures nor the R2 delivery start establish Q3 financial performance.

When Rivian’s Q3 financial results were scheduled
The October 2 report said Rivian had scheduled its Q3 financial results for October 29, 2026, after market close. The delivery announcement is not itself a full earnings release, and the scheduled date does not mean the financial results were already available.
