Product Hunt’s September 5, 2018 listing described Review Scraper API as a developer tool for retrieving reviews from a claimed 50+ sites in a standard JSON format. The listing named Amazon, Tripadvisor, Yelp, Capterra, G2 Crowd, and Trulia. That is a historical product claim—not confirmation that the same API, source coverage, or service is still available today.
What Review Scraper API was listed as offering
The Product Hunt page presented Review Scraper API as a way to use reviews in applications through a unified API response in JSON. It categorized the product under data analysis tools and unified API. Its “50+ sites” figure and named examples belong to the 2018 listing, not a currently verified coverage list. Product Hunt’s listing currently shows no user reviews.
A normalized JSON response can be useful when an application or analytics workflow needs to process information from multiple review platforms. A consistent structure can make it easier to query, store, and compare records than handling each platform’s data format separately. The listing, however, does not specify the fields returned or establish how complete or consistent the data was.
Is the old API still available?
Availability of the specific Review Scraper API is not established. The vendor link on the Product Hunt listing now redirects to Datashake’s current homepage. That redirect does not prove that the legacy API remains available, nor that its old source list is preserved.

Product Hunt records the launch date as September 5, 2018. Its page is useful for understanding what the product was described as offering at launch, but buyers should confirm the current product, coverage, and terms directly with the vendor before planning an integration.
What Datashake says its current platform provides
Datashake now positions itself as social and review data infrastructure. Its homepage describes a unified API covering 150+ sources across social media, review sites, app stores, forums, e-commerce platforms, and ratings directories. The vendor says its platform normalizes data and supports archive search and real-time collection, with filtering by date range, language, and source type, as well as duplicate detection. The vendor also lists customer experience, reputation management, retail, marketing automation, social listening, trend detection, crisis monitoring, competitive analysis, client reporting, due diligence, and risk assessment as use cases. How pricing and integration are described
Datashake describes a credit-based model billed on data consumed, custom proposals, and no per-seat fees. It invites prospective customers to request a free benchmark test using their queries. For a review-data integration, confirm these details with the vendor for the sources, regions, and use case you actually need. The historical Product Hunt listing and current Datashake page do not answer them.

- Coverage: Which sites, countries, and review types are available now? Is Amazon, Yelp, or Tripadvisor included for your required region?
- Returned data: Which review fields are included, how is pagination handled, and how much historical data can you retrieve?
- Collection behavior: How often is data refreshed, what latency should you expect, and how are duplicates identified?
- API operation: What authentication, rate limits, error handling, and availability commitments apply?
- Data handling and permitted use: How long is data retained, what quality checks are performed, and what downstream uses does the contract permit?
- Cost and support: How do credits map to expected volume, what are the contract terms, and what support is included?
For comparisons with other providers, assess the same coverage, schema, history, refresh, completeness, integration options, reliability commitments, permitted uses, support, and total cost at your expected volume. The available information is not sufficient for a reliable head-to-head ranking.
