AceThinker iPhone Data Recovery, which the vendor also markets inside its Fone Keeper toolkit, can scan three places for lost iPhone data: the phone itself while it is connected, an iTunes backup on your computer, or an iCloud backup. The free trial only scans. To recover and save anything to your computer, you need a paid registered license. Whether a specific deleted file can be brought back depends on whether its storage has since been overwritten, and AceThinker says it cannot guarantee full recovery. Read its broad success claims as vendor claims rather than proof for your particular files.
What the software does
AceThinker’s product page describes three search modes:
- Recover from an iOS device, which scans the iPhone over a computer connection.
- Recover from an iTunes backup, which reads a backup already stored on the computer.
- Recover from an iCloud backup, which reads an iCloud backup associated with your Apple account.
The page lists recoverable categories including photos, videos, contacts, messages, notes, call history, reminders, voicemail, and WhatsApp data. These are the vendor’s own descriptions. Independent testing of how completely each category comes back was not found.
How the recovery workflow runs
For a direct device scan, the user guide’s sequence is as follows:
#1 Best Overall
- The iRecovery Stick extracts messages, call history, contacts, web history, calendar appointments, photos, voice memos, email accounts, and map history directly from iPhone and iPad devices. Running entirely from the USB stick with no software installed on the device or computer, it leaves no trace that an extraction was performed.
- Uncover images concealed using photo-hiding apps and use the iSearch keyword function to search for specific words, names, phone numbers, or symbols across the entire device at once, eliminating the need to manually browse through individual apps and folders. Bookmark important findings and export content for reporting and analysis.
- The iRecovery Stick processes phone backup files stored on your Windows PC or copied from a Mac computer. If a device was backed up to a computer before items were deleted, those items may still be recoverable from the backup. Photos sent in text message conversations but deleted from the photo library may also be recovered if the conversation was not deleted.
- The iRecovery Stick requires physical access to the target device. The user must be able to disable the passcode, Touch ID, or Face ID before extraction begins. If the device was previously backed up to a computer using a password, that password will also be required to process the backup data.
- Use the iRecovery Stick on as many iPhone and iPad devices as needed with no per-device fees. Free lifetime updates ensure ongoing compatibility with future iOS versions, backed by 25+ years of data software expertise from Paraben Consumer Software.
- Install the latest version of iTunes on the computer. The guide recommends it for compatibility. On current Macs, Apple handles device connections in Finder rather than iTunes, so follow the guide’s Mac instructions for your system.
- Connect the iPhone to the computer with a USB cable. Unlock the phone and accept the “Trust This Computer” prompt if it appears.
- Open the software and select the recovery mode you want: device, iTunes backup, or iCloud backup.
- Start the scan and wait for it to finish.
- Preview the results and select the items you need.
- Use the software’s recover option to save the selected items to the computer. This step requires the registered version.
The user guide also advises against using the iPhone after data is lost. Each new photo, app download, or message can write over the space where deleted data still sits, which lowers the chance of recovery.
Free trial and pricing
The trial scans all three sources, so it is a useful checkpoint. Run a scan first and confirm that the files you want appear in the preview. Only then decide whether to pay. A visible file in the preview is not a guarantee that it will be recoverable when you save it, and AceThinker’s FAQ says the same.

- The Data Recovery Stick requires no technical skills — simply plug it into your Windows computer, click Start, and the software automatically begins scanning and recovering lost files within minutes. Compatible with Windows Vista, 7, 8, 10, & 11, it's designed to be a reliable first step when accidental deletion occurs.
- Recover photos (JPG, BMP, PNG, TIFF), Microsoft Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access), Open Office files, MP3 music files, PDFs, RTF documents, AutoCAD files, and HTML web pages. Whether it's personal memories or critical business files, the Data Recovery Stick covers the file types that matter most.
- Works with hard drives, USB drives, SD cards, memory sticks, and other common storage formats that use FAT or NTFS file systems — making it a single solution for hard drive recovery, USB drive recovery, SD card recovery, and more. Note: a media reader is required for micro SD cards and some mass storage devices.
- No Installation Required - The Data Recovery Stick runs entirely from the USB drive with no software installation on your computer — helping prevent new data from overwriting the files you're trying to recover. This also makes it ideal for use across multiple computers or in emergency situations where installation isn't practical.
- Use the Data Recovery Stick on as many computers as often as needed — simply clear the recovered data between uses to free up storage space. Software updates keep the tool compatible with newer systems and devices, backed by 25+ years of data software expertise from Paraben Consumer Software.
How much recovery to expect
Vendor claims
The product page displays a “99.7% Recovery Rate.” The page does not explain how that figure was measured, what data set it covers, or when it was calculated. Treat it as a marketing figure, not a verified performance measure.
What AceThinker’s own support says
AceThinker’s support FAQ is more cautious. It states: “Though the tool has a high success rate, it cannot guarantee a 100% recovery rate.” The same FAQ answers the question “Why some of the deleted files can’t be found?” by pointing to overwriting. Recovery depends on whether the space holding the data has been reused.

- The PBN-TEC Digital Investigation Kit is a comprehensive eight-tool investigation system trusted by law enforcement agencies, private investigators, IT security professionals, legal teams, and even concerned parents. One kit covers mobile device extraction, computer investigations, evidence collection, illicit content detection, audio monitoring, and secure file deletion — no additional software purchases required.
- The iRecovery Stick extracts and investigates data from iPhone and iPad devices, the Phone Recovery Stick handles Android phones and tablets, and the SIM Card Seizure analyzes data from virtually any GSM SIM card. Together these three tools provide complete mobile device investigation coverage from a single kit, including contacts, messages, call logs, and photos.
- The Data Recovery Stick recovers deleted files from any Windows OS, the Voice Logger installs an audio monitoring application onto any Windows computer, and the Data Shredder Stick securely deletes files and wipes storage when the investigation is complete. All three tools work on Windows XP or newer with no additional software required.
- The Capturra Action Drive 1TB automatically collects targeted file types from virtually any device, serving as both an evidence storage drive and a targeted file collection tool for focused investigations. The XXX Detection Stick then scans the collected evidence for illicit content, categorizing results into Low Suspect, Suspect, and Highly Suspect for review.
- The Digital Investigation Kit includes everything needed to begin an investigation immediately — a Data Cable Kit with iPhone, USB-C, and Micro USB cables, a universal SIM Card Adapter compatible with all SIM card sizes, and a Softshell Compartmentalized Protection Case to organize and transport all eight tools securely.
Independent review coverage
A Computer Tech Reviews article repeats the product’s claims about recovery modes, file categories, and device support. It does not show a reproducible test method or measured recovery results. We found no independent recovery-rate figure for this product, so the effectiveness of the software on your own device remains unknown until you run the trial scan.

- iPhone models: the page names devices through the iPhone 15 generation.
The available material does not establish support for iPhone models released after the iPhone 15 generation, or for the current iOS version. If you own a newer phone, check the latest requirements on the product page before paying.
Choosing a recovery route
The three modes depend on different conditions, so pick the one that matches your situation.
| Route | What you need | Best when | Main limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Device scan | The iPhone connected by USB and trusted by the computer | The phone still works and the data was deleted recently | Every new use of the phone raises the overwrite risk |
| iTunes backup | A backup saved on this computer | You backed up before the loss | Encrypted backups need their password |
| iCloud backup | Access to the iCloud backup | A backup exists in iCloud | You can only recover what the backup contains, at the date it was made |
Before buying, check five things: whether a usable backup exists, whether the phone can connect and be trusted by the computer, whether the trial preview shows the specific files you need, whether the license price is worth it for those files, and whether your operating system and phone are on the supported list.
My iPhone can’t be detected. What should I do?
AceThinker’s FAQ asks this question directly. Work through these checks in order:
- Use a working USB cable connected directly to the computer. A cable is only needed for the device-scan route, not for backup-based recovery.
- Install the latest iTunes, or follow the Mac device instructions in the user guide.
- Unlock the iPhone and tap “Trust” when the trust prompt appears.
- Confirm your computer and phone are on the supported list above.
- If the phone still isn’t detected, try the iTunes or iCloud backup modes if a backup exists.
Bottom line on AceThinker iPhone Data Recovery
AceThinker iPhone Data Recovery offers a clear workflow, a free scan that lets you check results before paying, and three recovery sources. Its advertised recovery rate is a marketing number, and its own support says full recovery cannot be guaranteed. The best use of the tool is to run the trial scan on your own phone or backup, confirm the specific files appear, and act quickly to limit overwriting.
