According to a report by Wrestling Noticias, some people in WWE were surprised by the wording of The Rock’s video tribute to PAC—particularly his praise for AEW and his description of Tony Khan as a friend. The account, attributed to Dave Meltzer, says the surprise was about those remarks, not the fact that The Rock posted a tribute.
What The Rock said in the tribute
Wrestling Noticias, in a report by Patricki Chites published October 3, 2026, says The Rock posted the video on September 29, two days after PAC—Benjamin Satterley, previously known in WWE as Neville—died. The video recalled Satterley’s WWE run, called AEW a “phenomenal” company on the rise, and described AEW owner Tony Khan as a friend. Wrestling Noticias
What the report says WWE people reacted to
Wrestling Noticias recounts a Wrestling Observer Radio discussion in which Garrett Gonzales asked Dave Meltzer about the response inside WWE. As quoted by Wrestling Noticias, Meltzer said: “Were there people in WWE who were very surprised at his wording and what he said, especially with them being on the TKO board of directors? Yes. Okay. They were very surprised.”

He is also quoted as saying: “Not that he did the video or anything like that, but the wording in the video, you know, where, you know, he praised them and, you know, essentially gave the stamp of, yeah, you guys are good for business and work hard and you’re helping make wrestling.” Wrestling Noticias
