You can replace Breeno with Gemini only if your exact phone, region and software build let Android select Gemini as the default assistant. Installing the Gemini app alone does not change which assistant opens from a voice command or button gesture. Check for the system-assistant option before treating the change as supported.
What replacing Breeno means
Gemini can be installed and opened as an app without becoming the phone’s primary assistant. For Gemini to take over the system-assistant role, Google says the Google app must be the device’s default assist app, and Gemini must be available for your account, device, language and location. See Google’s Gemini app guidance and Android setup instructions.
That distinction matters on OPPO phones: a phone may run the Gemini app while continuing to launch Breeno from its existing assistant shortcut. The decisive check is whether your phone exposes Google or Gemini in its digital-assistant settings.

Note the exact OPPO model, sales region or ROM, ColorOS version and Android version. Then confirm that Gemini is available for your device, Google Account, language and country or territory. Google notes that availability and setup can vary by device and location.

OPPO announced Gemini as part of ColorOS 15 on select devices, including the Find X8 Series global launch. That announcement does not establish that every China-market OPPO phone running Breeno can use Gemini as its system default. The official OPPO support page located for assistant activation concerns Google Assistant, not a universal Gemini-for-Breeno procedure: OPPO Chile’s Google Assistant instructions. The ColorOS announcement is at OPPO Global.
Set Gemini as the assistant if your phone offers it
- Install or open Gemini. Sign in to an eligible Google Account and complete any setup prompts. Availability depends on the account, device, language and location.
- Check the default assist app. Open Settings > Apps > Default apps > Digital assistant app. Menu names and locations differ among Android devices. Select Google if the phone offers it; Google says its app must be the default assist app for Gemini to act as the primary mobile assistant.
- Select Gemini in Google’s assistant settings. In the Google app, open Settings, choose Google Assistant, then Digital assistants from Google and select Gemini. On some phones, the choice may instead appear under Settings > Apps > Assistant > Digital assistants from Google. Use the route and options actually shown on your build.
- Test the activation method you want to use. Try the phone’s voice activation or power-button/side-button gesture only if that control is available for the selected assistant. Google says gesture setup varies; if needed, search Settings for “power,” “side button” or “gesture.”
If Gemini or Google is missing from the choices
If the digital-assistant menu does not list Google or Gemini, the app being installed does not prove that the system supports replacing Breeno. Recheck availability and the setup requirements in Google’s Android Gemini help, then look for guidance for your exact model and software build from OPPO or Google.

OPPO’s general support guidance says some pre-installed apps cannot be fully removed and warns that modifying system software can corrupt the phone; it is not a Breeno-specific compatibility statement. See OPPO Egypt’s pre-installed-app guidance.
