The Reolink Solar Floodlight Cam is a sensible option if you need an outdoor camera without nearby mains power and can mount it where its built-in solar panel gets useful sun. Its fixed 4MP view, bright adjustable floodlights and local-storage options are appealing; its image quality was solid rather than exceptional in one independent review. The panel cannot be detached or replaced, and solar charging is not guaranteed in shade or poor conditions.
Is the Reolink Solar Floodlight Cam any good?
It can be a good fit for a gate, shed or outbuilding where running power is inconvenient, provided the mounting spot gets enough sunlight. It combines a camera, floodlights, battery and solar panel in one unit, so there is no separate panel to position elsewhere. The trade-off is a fixed camera view and charging that depends on sun exposure, temperature and how often the camera is used.
In a 10-day outdoor test published on April 19, 2026, TechRadar reviewer Hannah Cowton described the image quality as solid rather than spectacular and found the menus easy to navigate. The camera performed especially well after dark in the review. At the default motion-sensitivity setting of 80, hanging sheets triggered alerts; the reviewer reduced sensitivity to around 50. Reolink’s three-month battery-life figure is a manufacturer claim, not a promise of typical runtime. Actual battery performance depends on conditions and use. Confirm the current regional product page and firmware for compatibility details, as features and availability can vary.
How well does it handle motion and night-time recording?
The floodlights are a notable feature if you want visible illumination as well as a camera image. Reolink rates them at up to 1000 lumens and gives a 3000–6000K color-temperature range, allowing adjustment from warmer to cooler light. The camera also has infrared night vision rated up to 10m. The manufacturer lists person, vehicle and animal detection, with a maximum PIR range of 10m and a 150° angle.

In TechRadar’s short test, the camera’s night-time performance stood out, but sensitivity may need tuning to reduce unwanted alerts. If moving foliage, fabric or other objects trigger notifications, reduce motion sensitivity and check whether the camera’s detection settings offer a better fit for the scene.
Does the Reolink Solar Floodlight Cam need a subscription?
No subscription is required for local recording to a microSD card, according to Reolink. The camera supports cards up to 512GB and also works with Reolink Home Hub and Home Hub Mini. Cloud storage is optional and available only in selected countries. Check Reolink’s current regional service information before relying on cloud availability.

Can the solar panel be replaced?
No. Reolink Support says the solar panel built into this model is fixed, neither detachable nor replaceable. Its listed rating is 3W. Because the panel cannot be moved away from the camera on a cable, choose a mounting position that gives it good exposure rather than prioritizing the camera angle alone. Reolink’s solar-panel guidance also lists a charging temperature range of 0–45°C for the panel.
Will it keep charging in shade or cloudy weather?
Not reliably. Reolink says shade, dust, weather, temperature and power use can reduce solar charging. Frequent motion detections and live viewing can increase power consumption, so the battery may lose charge when the panel is not collecting enough energy to offset use. Reolink’s general solar-panel FAQ says a compatible panel may take 3–4 days to fully charge a camera that is switched off or in standby under good sunlight. That is a general estimate, not a model-specific charging guarantee for this floodlight camera. See Reolink’s solar-panel FAQ.
Who should consider it, and what should they compare?
It is best suited to a location where mains power is difficult to run, the built-in panel can receive useful sunlight, a fixed wide-angle view covers the area, and local recording is acceptable. Consider another setup if you need to aim a separate panel toward the sun, reposition the camera remotely, or depend on steady charging despite persistent shade.

When comparing it with alternatives such as Ring Spotlight Cam Pro (Solar) or IMOU Cell 3C, check the same practical differences rather than relying on old price comparisons:
- View: Is the camera fixed, or can it pan and tilt?
- Power placement: Is the panel integrated, separately positionable, or is mains power available?
- Lighting: What illumination output and adjustment options are listed?
- Coverage and detail: Compare resolution and field of view for the area you need to monitor.
- Recording costs: Check local-storage capacity, cloud availability in your country and any subscription requirements.

Reolink lists Google Assistant and Alexa compatibility, a two-year limited warranty and support for up to 12 simultaneous streams. These manufacturer-listed features should be checked against the current regional product page and firmware before purchase.
