That 51% figure was reported for one Patagonia pullover. The available reports are dated September, so they do not confirm prices or stock on October 7, 2026.
What the REI fall-sale reports actually say
REI’s deals listing described discounts of up to 50% on past-season styles from Patagonia, The North Face, Arc’teryx and more. “Up to” is a maximum, not a discount that applies to every item or every product from those brands. The listing’s crawl date was roughly three weeks before October 7, 2026, and it did not establish a sale end date or current inventory. See REI’s deals listing.
A September 27, 2026, Tom’s Guide shopping report also described REI’s fall sale as in progress, with up to 50% off selected outdoor apparel from Patagonia, Arc’teryx and The North Face. That is a dated report, not confirmation that the same offers remain live on October 7. Read the September 27 report.
Why the headline’s 51% figure needs context
Men’s Journal reported on September 18, 2026, that a Patagonia Light Gust Hooded Insulated Pullover was priced at $137 at REI against a stated regular price of $279, describing it as 51% off. That is a report about one item, not evidence that the overall fall sale reached 51% off across the named brands. Prices and availability may have changed; check the item report and verify the current listing before relying on the price.

Do not confuse the fall deals with REI’s Labor Day Sale
REI’s official announcement said its 2026 Labor Day Sale ran from August 28 through September 7, so that event is over. Its announced selected offers included 25% off selected REI Co-op clothing and gear, 25% off all Darn Tough socks, 20% off Thule and Yakima racks, roof boxes and accessories, and up to 50% off clearance. Those were Labor Day terms, not current fall-sale offers. See REI’s announcement.
REI’s newsroom index dated October 7 listed the Labor Day announcement among recent news and did not display a newer fall-sale announcement. That index alone does not prove that REI has no other current promotion. Check the newsroom index.

How to check a deal before buying
- Open REI’s deals page and confirm that the product is still listed at the advertised price.
- Check the exact product name, size, color, stock and final price in the live listing; a past-season discount may apply only to selected styles or remaining sizes.
- For a jacket, compare its intended use, warmth, weather protection and fit against what you need, rather than assuming one brand or item is best across the selection.
- Recheck the price and availability at checkout. The September reports do not establish October 7 stock or pricing.
