The same SlashGear article says the refrigerator/freezer has 18 cubic feet of capacity despite its large exterior dimensions. That makes the useful question not simply “How much does it hold?” but “Does its usable capacity justify the space and cost in my kitchen?” Check current local specifications and measure the intended opening, including room for doors and ventilation. If you own one and want to monitor performance, a refrigerator/freezer thermometer can help you observe temperatures; it cannot repair an appliance that is not maintaining them.
How to tell whether a Cooluli mini-fridge is recalled
The CPSC recall dated August 13, 2026 covers certain Cooluli 10-liter and 15-liter mini-fridges, not every Cooluli product. Affected units have an internal power supply and two power-input ports—AC and DC—with no usual external “brick” adapter. Their batch numbers fall within 1535–1545 or 1200000–1202080. The recalled products were sold in the Infinity, Classic, Glow Beauty, and Vibe series. The model and batch number are on a label inside the door.

- Unplug the mini-fridge and inspect its label. Find the model and batch number on the label inside the door.
- Check the configuration. Confirm that it has an internal power supply and both AC and DC input ports, without the usual external brick adapter.
- Compare the exact details with the CPSC recall notice. A series name alone is not enough to determine that a unit is included.
- If it matches, stop using it and follow the current official instructions. The stated remedy is a free replacement DC power cord and a permanent sticker to cover the AC port. Follow the notice’s required unplugging and cord-cutting steps; do not improvise or continue using the unit while awaiting the remedy.
The CPSC says the switch can short circuit, creating fire and burn hazards. The notice covers about 250,000 units and reports at least 19 incidents involving smoking, sparking, burning, melting, overheating, or fire; property damage above $80,000; and one smoke-inhalation injury. These are figures reported in the recall notice, not a prediction that any individual unit will fail.
Other refrigerator recalls are not the same issue
A separate CPSC recall dated July 24, 2025 covers certain Frigidaire-branded Curtis International mini-fridges: EFMIS129, EFMIS137, EFMIS149, and EFMIS175 within specified serial-number ranges. EFMIS129-B and EFMIS129-C variants are excluded from the listed EFMIS129 range. The notice tells owners of affected units to stop using them and request a refund. Check the exact model and serial number in the CPSC notice. These compact products are not the full-size Frigidaire EFR786.

What broader reliability findings can—and cannot—tell you
Consumer Reports’ September 22, 2026 article identifies icemakers and dispensers as common problem areas and reports that some LG French-door, side-by-side, and bottom-freezer styles are more likely to have compressor problems than models from most other brands. It also notes that some Kenmore French-door and side-by-side models have LG-manufactured compressors. These are broad survey patterns, not proof that every refrigerator in a style or brand will fail, and they do not establish three current full-size models that every shopper should avoid.
Consumer Reports estimated that 30 percent of refrigerators with icemakers would have a problem by the end of year five. Its 2026 article also reported that 46 percent of new refrigerators purchased since 2016 had experienced at least one specified problem. The survey basis cited included more than 71,534 refrigerators with icemakers purchased new between 2015 and 2025. A practical way to choose a refrigerator
- Match the layout to your routines. Check freezer controls, drawer access, and whether the door and shelves work for your kitchen and household.
- Compare capacity with footprint. Use current specifications and measure the appliance space; a large exterior does not by itself guarantee proportionate usable storage.
- Seek model-level evidence. Prefer tests or reliability information that identify the model and explain the basis for the finding. Do not treat a brand-level survey pattern as a verdict on every model.
- Account for feature complexity. Icemakers and dispensers are useful, but Consumer Reports identifies them as common problem areas. Decide whether those features are worth the added potential maintenance.
- Check ownership support before purchase. Confirm the current warranty, service availability in your area, and parts support with the seller or manufacturer; the cited criticism of the two full-size models does not establish those terms.
- Check recalls by exact identifier. A familiar brand or product line is not enough. Use the model, serial, or batch details specified in the relevant official notice.
