The REDTIGER F17 Elite is advertised as a three-channel dash cam that records the road ahead, the rear view and the cabin. REDTIGER lists 4K front video, 2.5K rear video, 1080p interior video, GPS and 5.8 GHz Wi‑Fi 6. Those are manufacturer specifications—not independent road-test results—and the camera is evidence-recording equipment, not a guarantee of safety, fault-free footage or financial protection.
What the F17 Elite records
Three channels means three views captured by separate cameras:
- Front: REDTIGER lists 4K recording and an 8 MP Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 sensor.
- Rear: The listed resolution is 2.5K, with a 5 MP Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensor.
- Cabin: The interior camera is listed as 1080p (2 MP).
The front and rear cameras are specified with HDR. In practice, a three-camera layout can document traffic in front of you, events behind the vehicle and activity inside the cabin, but usable coverage still depends on mounting position, glass condition, lighting, exposure and whether each camera is connected and recording.

REDTIGER’s official pages disagree about the cabin sensor: the overview names Sony STARVIS IMX307, while another product listing names IMX662. Treat the sensor as unresolved until the exact product version, regional listing or box confirms it.

Does it record when the car is parked?
REDTIGER says the F17 Elite supports parking monitoring and shows a hardwire-kit bundle in its product material. The FAQ describes recording while the vehicle is off, but it does not establish a universal runtime. Parking recording therefore depends on the kit, wiring, vehicle power behavior and the selected configuration.
Before enabling parking mode
- Confirm whether your package includes the required hardwire kit or requires a separate compatible kit.
- Check that the kit supports your vehicle’s fuse type and has appropriate low-voltage protection.
- Use a professional installer if you are not confident identifying an ignition-switched circuit and a constant-power circuit.
- Test that normal driving recording starts and stops correctly after installation.
Parking monitoring can document an incident, but it cannot prevent theft or guarantee that an event is recorded.

Rear-camera placement: an important restriction
REDTIGER’s FAQ states: “The F17Elite’s rear camera is not waterproof and should not be mounted externally.” Mount it inside the vehicle, typically on the rear glass or another protected interior surface, and route the cable without interfering with airbags, hinges or the driver’s view. Do not place this rear unit outside on a trunk lid, license-plate area or exposed tailgate.
What to check in the box
Package contents can vary by listing. The FAQ separately lists a free 128 GB card, while the overview says the camera supports cards up to 512 GB. Confirm the exact bundle before installation rather than assuming the included capacity.

Photograph the contents and retain the listing or invoice. If a card or hardwire kit is missing, resolve that before routing cables.
Installation and first-use checklist
- Choose positions. Place the front camera high and near the center of the windscreen without entering the driver’s sightline. Position the cabin lens to cover the passenger area you actually need.
- Mount the rear camera inside. Keep it protected from water and verify that the rear-glass heater, tint and wiper sweep do not block the image.
- Route cables safely. Tuck wiring behind trim, keeping clear of curtain airbags, pedals, steering components and door seals.
- Insert and format storage. Use a compatible microSD card, format it in the camera when instructed, and check that recording begins.
- Set the clock and GPS. Wait for a GPS lock before relying on location and time data in an incident file.
- Connect the phone. Use the REDTIGER app or specified Wi‑Fi workflow, then download a short clip. The 30 Mb/s figure is REDTIGER’s maximum claim, not a guaranteed transfer speed.
- Test every channel. Review front, rear and cabin clips, including night footage, before hiding all cables.
- Test parking mode separately. Turn the vehicle off, follow the kit instructions and confirm the camera’s power behavior without leaving the battery at risk.
