The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max’s clearest strength is battery endurance: two independent reviewers reported more than two days of use. Its large battery and Xiaomi’s durability claims make it appealing if charging less often matters most, but regional battery sizes differ, and camera and performance compromises keep it from being an obvious all-rounder.
How long does the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max battery last?
In their individual reviews, Android Central’s reviewer reported about two and a half days at medium use and two days under heavy use; Digital Camera World’s reviewer reported more than two days of fairly heavy use. Those experiences support the phone’s endurance pitch, but they are not results from a standardized comparative test, and your screen time, signal conditions, apps and settings will affect runtime. Battery size depends on the market
Xiaomi’s 2026 global product page lists a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, while the UK product page and the August 27, 2026 launch announcement list 9,210mAh. Check the specification for the exact regional model rather than assuming every Redmi Note 17 Pro Max has the same capacity. Xiaomi says the phone can last up to three days, but that is a manufacturer claim, not a promise for every usage pattern. Xiaomi advertises 100W HyperCharge and up to 27W reverse charging. Confirm the charging configuration and whether an adapter is included for the sales region before buying; Xiaomi’s India specifications page says package contents can vary by sales region and packaging version. Xiaomi also claims up to six years of battery health, and its global page says the battery retains at least 80% capacity after 1,600 charging cycles. These are company claims; the cited reviews do not establish long-term results. Xiaomi India’s specifications page lists regional specifications and its packaging caveat.

Is the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max durable or waterproof?
Xiaomi lists IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings and describes a TÜV SÜD test involving water at 2 metres for 72 hours. It also says SGS certified the phone for drops up to 3 metres onto granite, and lists Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the display. These are bounded manufacturer-published claims, not a guarantee that the phone will survive every drop or water incident. The cited pages do not provide the full underlying test reports.
Understand the underwater-use limit
Xiaomi’s underwater-mode guidance is narrower than a general waterproof claim: it specifies static fresh water, up to 2 metres, for up to 30 minutes. Xiaomi excludes professional diving, seawater, pools and hot water, says underwater mode does not extend water resistance, and recommends a professional waterproof case. Follow the instructions for your regional model on the global or UK product page. Do not treat the ratings as permission to deliberately expose the phone to water.

What are the camera and performance trade-offs?
Camera versatility
Digital Camera World reports a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide and a 32MP front camera, with no dedicated telephoto camera. Its reviewer describes the main camera as respectable in good conditions but notes processing and HDR limitations. If zoom photography or a more versatile camera system is central to your buying decision, the missing telephoto is a meaningful compromise.

It is most compelling for buyers who put multi-day endurance ahead of camera flexibility and top-tier performance. The independent reviewer accounts give the battery claim useful real-world support, while Xiaomi’s durability features add reassurance within their stated limits. Before ordering, verify the battery capacity and included charger for your market, and decide whether the camera’s lack of a dedicated telephoto and the performance concerns raised by Android Central matter more than fewer charging stops.
