The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G has a very large battery, but how long it lasts depends on your regional model and how you use it. The best independent figure so far is Notebookcheck’s 29 h 9 min in a continuous Wi-Fi web-browsing test on its 8,340 mAh unit. Xiaomi’s own claim of “more than 2 days” comes from a simulated moderate-use scenario. The two numbers measure different things, so don’t treat either as a promise.
Check your regional model first: 8,340 mAh or 9,000 mAh

The official pages don’t explain the difference, so treat capacity as market-specific. Confirm your country and exact model before comparing battery numbers in a review or a store listing.

How long does the battery actually last?
Independent test: 29 h 9 min of Wi-Fi browsing
Notebookcheck’s review, dated 2 October 2026, reports 29 h 9 min in its Wi-Fi web-browsing test using Chrome 151 on an 8,340 mAh phone. Notebookcheck review This is a repeatable, standardised workload. It isn’t screen-on time across all activities, and it isn’t a guaranteed number of days.

Xiaomi’s claim: “More than 2 days”
Xiaomi Malaysia’s “More than 2 days of battery life” is based on Xiaomi Internal Labs testing of a simulated comprehensive moderate-use day. That day includes home-screen use, music, social media, email, maps, video streaming and standby. Xiaomi India publishes separate scenario-based figures for activities such as video, music, maps, gaming and camera use, with the same caveat about real-world variation. Xiaomi India Each figure belongs to its publisher, market and protocol, so don’t average them.

Charging speed and what’s in the box

Notebookcheck measured around 65 minutes for a charge using a Xiaomi 2500 power bank. That is its own test setup, not an official Xiaomi charging time, and your result will differ with a different charger.

Xiaomi hasn’t published battery-saving steps specific to this phone, so the points below are general smartphone advice, not tested Redmi Note 17 Pro guidance. Menu names vary with your software version, so look in Settings and search for “battery” or “display”.

- Keep brightness moderate. The screen is usually among the biggest drains, especially outdoors at high brightness.
- Limit background activity for apps you rarely open, and review which apps use the most power in the battery section of Settings.
- Prefer Wi-Fi to weak mobile signal. Poor reception makes the phone work harder.
- Don’t draw conclusions from the first days. Setup, app restores and downloads use extra power at first.
- Use reverse charging sparingly. Powering other devices from your phone shortens its own runtime.
Comparing it with other phones fairly
- Match the regional capacity, not just the model name.
- Use the same independent test protocol, such as Wi-Fi browsing, for both phones.
- Compare charging wattage together with measured charge times taken under similar equipment.
- Check whether the local box includes a compatible charger.
Keep manufacturer scenario claims separate from independent results.
