A Reddit user says they claimed stomach flu to take a Friday off for a trip to Coorg, then appeared in a dance reel filmed at their homestay. According to the post, a skip-level manager sent the reel on Monday with the message: “Hope your stomach is better.” The account is a viral anecdote, not an independently verified workplace case.
What happened in the Coorg sick-leave reel story?
The story began with a post in r/antiLinkedIn, titled “Pretended to be on sick leave & got caught.” The pseudonymous author says they told a manager they had stomach flu so they could take Friday off and travel to Coorg.
While at a homestay, the author says they appeared in the background of a dance reel. The post says a skip-level manager sent the reel on Monday and wrote, “Hope your stomach is better.” That wording is quoted as the author presented it; the message has not been independently authenticated.

In the Reddit account, the manager’s five-word message was: “Hope your stomach is better.” The author says they remained employed, but that no later work-from-home requests were approved. The post does not establish that the reel caused those decisions or explain the employer’s WFH policy.

Is the story verified?
No independent confirmation of the employee, manager, employer, or original Instagram reel appears in the cited coverage. The Reddit post is the primary account, so its claims—including the reported exchange and workplace consequences—should be treated as the author’s account rather than established facts.
Hindustan Times covered the account on May 28, 2025. The Times of India summarized it on October 1, 2026, reporting that the reel had crossed 13,000 likes. That figure is reported engagement, not an independently checked current count; the 2026 article is a resurfacing of the earlier story, not evidence the incident happened in 2026.

A public social-media appearance can attract workplace attention, as the Reddit author says happened here. But this single, self-reported story does not establish a general employer practice or show that social-media posts automatically affect leave or remote-work decisions.
