For India-market buyers choosing by advertised specs, the realme P4R 5G offers the larger listed battery (8,000mAh) and a faster maximum refresh rate (144Hz). The Xiaomi Redmi 17 5G has a slightly larger display, Xiaomi’s stated four-year OS and six-year security update windows, and reverse wired charging. Neither the available sources nor the spec sheets establish an overall performance or camera winner.
realme P4R vs Redmi 17 5G: key specifications
These are manufacturer-listed specifications for India-market models. Refresh rate and battery capacity are specifications, not proof of better real-world smoothness or endurance.

Which phone has the better display?
The Redmi 17 5G has the larger listed screen: Xiaomi specifies 6.9 inches, while the third-party comparison lists the P4R at 6.8 inches. Both are HD+ class; that comparison lists 720×1570 for P4R and 720×1600 for Redmi. realme advertises a maximum 144Hz refresh rate and 1200-nit peak brightness; Xiaomi specifies up to 120Hz adaptive refresh. The P4R therefore leads on the stated refresh-rate ceiling, while Redmi is slightly larger. These figures do not establish which display looks better under particular conditions.
Battery capacity and charging differences
realme advertises an 8,000mAh battery, compared with Xiaomi’s 7,900mAh typical capacity. Both list 45W charging. Xiaomi additionally specifies up to 22.5W reverse wired charging, which can supply power to another compatible device by cable.

The capacity gap is small on paper, but capacity alone cannot tell you which phone lasts longer between charges. The manufacturer pages describe advertised capabilities and usage claims, not controlled head-to-head endurance testing.
Performance: what the processor names do—and do not—tell you
The P4R uses MediaTek Dimensity 6300 and the Redmi 17 5G uses Snapdragon 4 Gen 5. The available material does not provide comparable independent performance tests for these exact phones. Chip names alone are not enough to declare which handset is faster, and a manufacturer benchmark for one model would not be a like-for-like comparison.

Camera comparison
Both manufacturers list 50MP main camera systems. Megapixel counts describe image resolution, not overall photo quality; the available sources do not provide comparable independent photo samples or camera tests for these two models. There is not enough evidence here to name a camera winner.

Xiaomi states that the Redmi 17 5G will receive four years of OS updates and six years of security updates. realme’s India page lists Android 16-based realme UI 7.0, but its “4-Year Smooth Guarantee” is not an OS-update commitment. The available information therefore does not support a direct comparison of update duration. Check the manufacturers’ current India terms for the exact policy and eligible variants.

The India pages list IP65 for the P4R and IP64 for the Redmi. These are the manufacturers’ stated protection ratings; they should not be read as a promise that either phone is damage-proof.
Price difference: ₹4,009 in one marketplace snapshot
A 91mobiles comparison result crawled near 2026-10-05 listed the P4R at ₹19,990 and Redmi 17 5G at ₹23,999 on Amazon—a ₹4,009 difference in that snapshot. These are marketplace listings, not official launch prices or guaranteed checkout prices. Before buying, compare the same RAM and storage configuration, seller, and offer because listings and prices can change.

Choose the realme P4R 5G if
- You prioritize its higher advertised battery capacity or 144Hz maximum refresh rate.
- The lower price in the current offer you find is important.
Choose the Xiaomi Redmi 17 5G if
