The realme P4 Pro 5G is the stronger pick on paper for display detail, refresh rate, listed chipset tier, and camera hardware. The Xiaomi REDMI 17 5G has a larger screen and stated battery, reverse charging, a longer published software-support commitment, and a lower displayed India entry price. The price gap in the listings reviewed was ₹5,000, but one price was marked out of stock, so treat it as a dated comparison rather than a live offer.

Which phone has the better display?
The P4 Pro has the sharper, faster display on the published specifications: its 1280 × 2800 resolution and up-to-144Hz refresh rate exceed the REDMI 17 5G’s 720 × 1600 resolution and up-to-120Hz AdaptiveSync. That makes the realme the more compelling option if fine detail and smoother supported motion are priorities.
The Redmi’s screen is slightly larger diagonally at 6.9 inches versus 6.8 inches. Its advantage is size, not pixel density; a larger diagonal does not make its HD+ panel more detailed. Realme describes its panel as AMOLED and curved, while Xiaomi lists a 6.9-inch HD+ display. Display quality in everyday use also depends on factors not established by these headline specifications.

Performance and cameras: what the specs establish
Realme lists the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, while Xiaomi lists the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5. This indicates different processor tiers in the manufacturers’ product specifications, but no independent benchmark or comparative test is available here, so it does not establish a measured speed gap for particular apps or games.
The realme camera hardware is more versatile on paper: it lists a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP front camera. Xiaomi lists a 50MP main camera within an AI dual-camera system and an 8MP front camera. These resolution and component differences do not, by themselves, prove which phone takes better photos; image processing, optics, and shooting conditions also matter.

Battery capacity, charging, and software support
Xiaomi lists a larger typical battery capacity: 7900mAh, compared with 7000mAh typical for the P4 Pro. Realme also publishes a 6830mAh minimum rated capacity. Capacity figures alone cannot predict runtime, which varies with display settings, network conditions, and use. For charging, realme lists 80W charging; Xiaomi lists 45W charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging.

India price difference and availability
Xiaomi’s India store listing showed the REDMI 17 5G starting at ₹23,999. The 91mobiles comparison page listed the realme P4 Pro at ₹28,999 and marked it out of stock; it also listed the Redmi at ₹23,999. The displayed figures imply a ₹5,000 difference, with the realme higher, but they are not an apples-to-apples live quote: the Redmi figure is from Xiaomi’s official store, while the realme figure is a secondary listing that was out of stock. Prices and stock can change, and exact variants may differ.
Before buying, compare the same RAM and storage configuration, seller, warranty, local network compatibility, and final checkout price. Which should you choose?
- Choose the realme P4 Pro 5G if you prioritize the higher-resolution 144Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 listing, OIS-equipped main camera, ultra-wide rear camera, 50MP selfie camera, or faster listed charging.
- Consider the Xiaomi REDMI 17 5G if a larger display, larger stated battery, wired reverse charging, Xiaomi’s published update duration, or the lower displayed India store entry price matters more to you.
Neither specification sheet settles real-world photo quality, battery endurance, or app and game performance. Those depend on testing and usage conditions beyond the listed figures.
