Yes—but the Disney-channel blackout that prompted this question was temporary, not an ongoing reason to switch. If YouTube TV no longer fits your household, consider Hulu + Live TV for a broad live-TV package, Sling Orange & Blue if its current lineup fits your channel needs, or a Disney+/Hulu/ESPN bundle if ESPN access—not a full live-channel replacement—is your main goal. Prices and channel availability change, so compare the recurring checkout price and your local lineup before subscribing.

What happened with YouTube TV—and is the blackout still happening?

The Disney–YouTube TV carriage dispute and resulting channel loss were part of the story in Android Central’s November 5, 2025 article. Treat that blackout as historical: the article described the situation at that time, not a continuing loss of Disney channels. YouTube TV currently lists plans on its official plan page.

Android Central captured the mood with the line, “It’s too early in the season for this much family feuding.” That was the publication’s editorial framing, not a quote from a named person. A dispute can still be a reason to reconsider how dependent your household is on one provider, but it does not establish that YouTube TV is currently missing those channels.

How the three alternatives differ

Option Best fit What is established What to verify before subscribing
Hulu + Live TV Households seeking a broad live-TV service with streaming-library access Hulu currently advertises 100+ live channels, unlimited DVR, Disney+ content, and additional ESPN content in the ESPN app. Its official pages show different package labels and price points. Checkout price, offer eligibility and end date, post-promotion price, ZIP-code channel lineup, and the sports networks you need.
Sling Orange & Blue Viewers open to a customizable live-TV package whose current channel lineup meets their needs Android Central cited Sling Orange & Blue as an alternative in November 2025. Its cited $45.99 monthly price is dated and is not established as current. Current price, channel list, local coverage, promotional terms, DVR policy, and any add-on costs.
Disney+/Hulu/ESPN bundle Viewers primarily seeking ESPN access alongside streaming libraries Android Central described this bundle in November 2025 as starting at $29.99 a month for a year. That is not a current price confirmation, and this kind of bundle is not a like-for-like replacement for a broad live-TV service. Current availability, package contents, recurring price, live sports access, and whether it carries the channels your household watches.

1. Hulu + Live TV: the closest of these options to a broad replacement

Hulu is the most directly documented current alternative among the three. Its official live-TV page advertises 100+ live channels, unlimited DVR, Disney+ content, and additional ESPN content through the ESPN app. Those features make it worth comparing with YouTube TV if you want live channels as well as streaming libraries—not just sports access.

Check the price at checkout, not just the headline offer

Hulu’s official live-TV page lists $99.99 per month as the ongoing price after a one-month $49.99 offer for eligible new or returning subscribers; that offer is stated to end October 26, 2026. A separate Hulu plan page lists Hulu + Live TV with Disney+ and ESPN Select at $89.99 per month and a Premium option at $99.99 per month. The pages therefore do not present one interchangeable package-and-price combination. Confirm the exact package, eligibility, promotion end date, and recurring price shown for your account before signing up.

Confirm the local lineup and recording window

Hulu says local live-TV availability varies by area, and some content requires location data. Regional restrictions and blackouts apply. Use your ZIP code to check local ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC affiliates and the sports channels relevant to your teams; a national channel count cannot guarantee that your local station is included. Hulu’s plan page says recordings can be stored for up to nine months.

  • Say goodbye to batteries: Keep your remote powered for months on a single charge.

2. Sling Orange & Blue: consider it only after checking today’s lineup

Sling Orange & Blue appeared as an alternative in Android Central’s November 2025 article, which described Sling as customizable. The article’s cited $45.99 monthly price is a dated figure, not a verified current rate. Current package pricing, channels, local coverage, and deals are not established by the available service details here, so do not use that old figure to decide whether Sling is cheaper than YouTube TV.

Before switching, check Sling’s current package and local-channel availability for your ZIP code, then confirm the networks you need for live sports and other regular viewing. A lower base price is not a useful comparison if the channels you rely on require add-ons or are unavailable in your area.

  • Shows on the go: Take your TV to-go when traveling—without needing to log into someone else’s device.

3. The Disney+/Hulu/ESPN bundle: a narrower choice for ESPN-focused viewers

The Disney+/Hulu/ESPN bundle cited by Android Central was presented as useful to viewers focused on ESPN. Its reported starting price of $29.99 per month for a year was a November 2025 claim, not a confirmed current offer. Check present-day availability, package contents, and the price after any introductory period before treating it as a budget option.

Most importantly, a bundle built around streaming libraries and ESPN access should not be assumed to replace a multichannel live-TV service. Confirm whether it includes the live sports access and other channels you watch; if you need a full live-channel lineup, compare it with Hulu + Live TV or another live-TV service instead.

Compare the details that determine your real cost

Use the same checklist for each candidate. Promotional pricing is not the same as the recurring monthly cost, and channel counts do not tell you whether your local station or specific sports network is included.

  • Recurring price: Record the package’s regular price after promotions, plus required add-ons. For Hulu, verify which of the differently labeled official offers applies to your account.
  • Local channels: Check ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC by ZIP code. Hulu explicitly says local availability varies; current local coverage for Sling and the ESPN-centered bundle is not established here.
  • Sports: List the exact national and regional networks you need, and check for regional restrictions or blackouts. Hulu warns that restrictions and blackouts apply.
  • DVR: Check recording limits, retention, and fast-forward rules. Hulu says recordings can be stored for up to nine months; comparable current details for the other two options are not established here.
  • Included services and screens: Confirm which streaming libraries are included and how many simultaneous streams the package allows. Do not assume these terms match across services.

Is YouTube TV still worth comparing?

Yes, especially if you are switching because of price rather than the old channel dispute. YouTube TV’s official page currently lists a 100+ channel main plan at $82.99 per month and a Sports plan at $64.99 per month after temporary introductory prices. These are volatile, offer-dependent figures, so check the page for current terms and expiry dates before comparing them with another service’s post-promotion price.
