The Satin Black Razer Phone 2 went on sale through Razer.com on April 17, 2019, at a limited-time price of $499. It was the existing Razer Phone 2 in a new finish—not a new hardware version—and the offer was a discount from the phone’s $799 launch MSRP.
What the $499 announcement meant
Contemporaneous coverage described Satin Black as exclusive to Razer.com and priced at $499 for a limited time. That was a U.S./North American-market offer, not evidence of a permanent price or worldwide availability. Droid Life’s April 17, 2019 announcement reported the availability and price.
Razer had announced the Razer Phone 2 in October 2018 at a U.S. launch MSRP of $799. Mirror Black was the initial color, with Satin Black planned for Q4. The later $499 offer therefore put the phone $300 below its launch MSRP; it did not establish a new MSRP. Razer’s launch announcement contains the original pricing and color plans.

Satin Black versus Mirror Black
Satin Black was a finish option for the same Razer Phone 2 platform. The available specifications do not establish a hardware difference between the finishes. Contemporary community discussion called it a limited edition, but that wording does not establish a numbered collector’s run or a distinct internal model. Razer Insider’s discussion provides that community context.

What buyers got
Razer’s support page lists these specifications for the Razer Phone 2; it does not identify them as unique to Satin Black.

Why the phone stood out in 2019
The 120 Hz screen was the defining feature: it could refresh more often than the conventional 60 Hz displays common at the time, making supported games and interface motion look smoother. The Snapdragon 845 and 8 GB of RAM were high-end for the phone’s 2018–2019 era. Front-facing speakers, a gaming-focused design, wireless charging, and expandable storage rounded out a package aimed at players and enthusiasts. At $499, those features made the phone more competitive than it had been at launch.
The trade-offs were real even then. The phone weighed about 220 grams, offered only 64 GB internally, and its camera and software polish were less compelling than its display and gaming focus. A 120 Hz mode could also use more battery depending on settings and workload. Its Snapdragon 845 should be understood as period-appropriate flagship hardware, not as a current performance benchmark.

Is the $499 offer available now?
No current official Razer retail offer is established by the available sources. The $499 figure belongs to the limited-time 2019 promotion; it should not be treated as today’s price or as a reliable guide to resale value.
As of August 2026, Razer’s support page says live support for the Razer Phone 2 is no longer available. The page remains useful for specifications and support information, but it does not establish a currently supported Android release or security-patch level. Do not assume current software updates, warranty coverage, or official replacement parts.

What to check before buying a used Razer Phone 2
- Battery: An old-stock unit may have an aged battery despite being unused. Ask about battery condition and test charging and real-world capacity where possible.
- Hardware: Check the display, USB-C port, speakers, cameras, fingerprint sensor, and wireless charging. Confirm which accessories are actually included rather than assuming the 2019 promotion bundled extras.
- Carrier fit: Verify the exact model against your carrier’s bands and VoLTE requirements. Unlocked branding or a listed LTE band does not guarantee compatibility with every network configuration.
- Water resistance: Razer rated the phone IP67, including resistance under specified test conditions, but a used device’s seals may have aged or been compromised by repairs. Do not rely on that rating as assurance against water damage.
- Software and condition: Check the installed software, bootloader state, screen condition, and seller’s return policy. Current security status is not established by Razer’s support page.
For a collector, repair project, or enthusiast who specifically wants its high-refresh-rate display and gaming-oriented hardware, a carefully inspected unit may still have appeal. For a mainstream daily phone in 2026, its age and the end of live support make it a poor default choice.
