Raspberry Pi raised the manufacturer-stated prices of both 2GB boards by $12.50, effective 1 October 2026: the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 2GB is now listed at $67.50 and the Raspberry Pi 5 2GB at $77.50. Raspberry Pi says steeply rising memory costs made the previous prices unsustainable. Those are announced US-dollar prices, not a guarantee of local retail prices or stock.

What changed on 1 October 2026?

Raspberry Pi announced a $12.50 increase for each of its 2GB Pi 4 and Pi 5 boards. The new manufacturer-stated prices are:

Board Announced price from 1 October 2026 Increase
Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, 2GB $67.50 $12.50
Raspberry Pi 5, 2GB $77.50 $12.50

These figures come from Raspberry Pi’s 1 October 2026 announcement. They are US-dollar manufacturer prices; local reseller prices, taxes, availability and stock may differ.

Which models were not affected?

In the same announcement, Raspberry Pi said prices for the 1GB Pi 4 and Pi 5, and the 2GB Compute Module 4 and Compute Module 5, were unchanged at that time. This statement is limited to the products and date named in the announcement.

Blending minimalist aesthetics with functional excellence, it delivers both reliability and style.
  • High-Efficiency Active Cooling System: The active cooler anodized aluminum in tandem with a PWM-controlled fan, paired with a specially designed ventilated case. This combination rapidly reduces chip temperatures, ensuring the Pi 5 consistently operates at peak performance. Even during high-load scenarios like 4K video decoding and programming development, the system maintains continuous stability without throttling.
  • Classic Black ABS Case: The black Case switch features a transparent, integrated design for easy monitoring of indicator light status. Stylish appearance, robust and durable construction, removable top cover, and precision port openings for effortless access to all connections.

Why did Raspberry Pi raise the prices?

Raspberry Pi attributed the increases to steeply rising memory costs over the preceding two years. It said it had kept prices for the 1GB and 2GB Pi 4 and Pi 5 down during its earlier April price round, but maintaining those prices had become unsustainable.

Eben Upton, chief executive of Raspberry Pi Trading, described the situation in the October announcement: “The current memory supply circumstances are very challenging, but, as we’ve said before, they won’t last forever.” The company said it would look to reverse the increases when memory prices eventually subside, but did not give a timetable. Its statement explains the company’s decision; it does not quantify market-wide memory price changes or establish when prices will fall.

iRasptek Basic kit for Raspberry Pi 5 2GB RAM Includes Active Cooler and Pi5 Case
  • Package Include: 1x Pi 5 2GB, 1x Pi 5 Case, 1x Active Cooler.
  • Lightweight texture: Compared to metal case,ABS case have a softer texture and feel, and the rounded design prevents damage to motherboard components. Meanwhile, the red and white color scheme of the ABS case is visually simple, clean and comfortable.
  • Specialized case design: This case is specially designed for Raspberry Pi5, perfectly fits the motherboard and can be fixed with 4 screws, which can effectively protect the Pi 5 motherboard from damage and external interference. The case is partially hollowed out to ensure heat dissipation. Equipped with transparent power button, you can easily observe the status of Pi5 power indicator.
  • iRasptek PWM Active Cooler: Features intelligent speed control that dynamically responds to system demand. Under Pi OS, the fan remains off at low temperatures (≤50°C) for ultimate silence; ramps up linearly at medium temperatures (50-65°C) for efficient, low-noise cooling; and operates at full speed at high temperatures (≥65°C) to aggressively dissipate heat and prevent thermal throttling. Embedded within the system’s core drivers, it continuously safeguards your board, ensuring stable, sustained, and high-performance operation.
  • Welcome to the latest generation of Pi5: the everything computer. Featuring a 64-bit quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor running at 2.4GHz, Pi 5 delivers a 2–3× increase in CPU performance relative to Pi 4. Alongside a substantial uplift in graphics performance from an 800MHz VideoCore VII GPU; dual 4Kp60 display output ; and state-of-the-art camera support from a rearchitected Image Signal Processor, it provides a smooth desktop experience for consumers, and opens the door to new applications for industrial customers.

What does the RAM sourcing notice tell buyers?

Raspberry Pi’s PCN 46, release 4, built on 23 July 2026, documents qualified alternative RAM parts for Raspberry Pi 5. The notice says the change is intended “To improve long term availability of RAM parts,” and lists multiple manufacturers and memory sizes. Raspberry Pi says it extensively tested and qualified the devices and that they closely match original parts in specification and performance.

The notice is evidence of a sourcing effort, not proof that supply constraints have ended or that the October price increase resolved them.

What should you check before buying?

  • Match the board to the project. Compare Pi 4 with Pi 5, then consider whether the 1GB or 2GB configuration fits your actual workload. Raspberry Pi has not supplied workload benchmarks with the price announcement, so it does not establish which memory size is sufficient for a particular project.
  • Check the exact configuration and local price. The announced prices do not guarantee that a local listing will match them; confirm the board generation, RAM capacity, taxes and availability.
  • Verify the seller. Raspberry Pi advises buying through approved resellers, which it says abide by its published maximum prices. It warns that unauthorized vendors may inflate prices or offer products that are not what they appear to be.

Raspberry Pi’s advice is to make sure the product matches your requirements and not pay for headroom you do not need. The right choice depends on the work you plan to run, rather than the price change alone.

How does this compare with the December 2025 announcement?

In a 1 December 2025 announcement, Raspberry Pi said the Pi 5 2GB price was moving from $50 to $55 and introduced a 1GB Pi 5 at $45. It also announced increases for several higher-memory configurations. Those are dated figures from that announcement, not a complete statement of the prices immediately before the October 2026 change. The October announcement supplies the current stated prices for the two affected boards.
