There is no verified RARBG proxy or official RARBG mirror list for 2024. RARBG permanently shut down on May 31, 2023, ending its indexing operation and official release activity. A domain that uses the RARBG name, copies its layout, or lists old torrent titles is not authenticated merely by looking familiar.
Current RARBG-branded pages may be clones, scraped indexes, archives, parked domains, affiliate sites, or unrelated services. Some expose visitors to deceptive download buttons, redirects, phishing pages, unwanted software, or malware. Treat the name as an identification warning—not as proof that a site is an operating mirror.
RARBG did not merely change domains
The original RARBG service closed permanently on May 31, 2023. Its farewell message cited COVID-related deaths and illness, the Russia–Ukraine war, inflation, and rising data-center costs. The shutdown stopped both the site’s indexing operation and its official releases.
That matters because a proxy normally forwards requests to a live original service. There is no live original RARBG service for a proxy to reach. Consequently, a page titled “RARBG Proxy List,” “RARBG Official,” or “RARBG Mirror Sites” cannot be treated as a list of alternate gateways to the former site.

Third parties did preserve older RARBG links and releases. Those copies may explain why familiar names, magnet links, and release metadata still appear online, but they do not show that RARBG resumed publishing or operates the site hosting them.
What happened to rarbg.to?
The former rarbg.to domain was not evidence of a relaunch. TorrentFreak reported in September 2024 that the domain had been auctioned for $5,250 and repurposed as a Thai casino-affiliate site. Some search results continued to label it “official,” illustrating why search-engine labels and old backlinks are not reliable authentication.
A domain can resolve, return an HTTP 200 response, and have a valid HTTPS certificate while being operated by someone entirely unrelated to RARBG. Those technical signals establish only that a web server answered and that the connection may be encrypted. They do not prove ownership, continuity, authenticity, or safety.
Why RARBG mirror lists are misleading
A mirror may be a clone, proxy, or cached copy of another service. That does not make it an authorized continuation. A copied logo, category structure, torrent name, or old interface can be reproduced by anyone, including a site designed primarily to deliver advertising or malicious downloads.

Lists that describe domains such as rarbgproxy.to, rarbgmirror.org, rarbgaccessed.org, or rarbgget.org as “safe mirrors” are making an operator claim. They do not provide independent proof that those domains were run by the former RARBG team. The same caution applies to any new domain added to a proxy list.
Common risks on RARBG-branded clones
| What you see | What it can mean |
|---|---|
| Several “Download” or “Magnet” buttons | Some may be advertising links or deceptive buttons rather than the requested action. |
| Automatic redirects | The page may send you to gambling, casino, phishing, fake antivirus, or software-download sites. |
| A prompt to install a codec, player, extension, VPN, or client update | The software may be unwanted, bundled, difficult to remove, or designed to alter browser or network behavior. |
| A password-protected ZIP or RAR archive | Malware can be concealed inside archives, including archives that prevent security tools from inspecting their contents. |
A supposed film or TV file ending in .exe, .msi, .scr, or .bat |
That is an executable, not a normal media file. Do not run it. |
A padlock and https:// |
The connection is encrypted, but the site can still be fraudulent or malicious. |
Malvertising can trigger redirects or urgent pop-ups without the site’s main page appearing obviously malicious. Deceptive buttons may imitate a browser warning, trusted software, or the website’s own controls. A familiar RARBG-style interface does not make the associated files or links trustworthy.
How to handle a suspicious RARBG page
- Do not assume search placement means legitimacy. Search engines can retain stale titles, descriptions, backlinks, and domain labels after a service has closed.
- Do not install anything prompted by the page. Close requests for browser extensions, codecs, media players, antivirus tools, VPNs, or “torrent client updates” unless you independently chose and verified the software.
- Do not run downloaded executables. A media download should not require launching an
.exe,.msi,.scr, or.batfile. Delete suspicious downloads and empty the recycle bin. - Close redirect tabs. Do not enter passwords, payment details, recovery codes, or personal information into a page reached through an unexpected redirect.
- Check browser security settings. In desktop Chrome, open More → Settings → Privacy and security → Security and keep Safe Browsing enabled. Disabling it also removes download warnings.
- Scan after an accidental download. Update your operating system and security software, run a full scan, and review recently installed applications and browser extensions.
- Change credentials if you entered them. Use a clean device if possible, change the affected password, revoke active sessions, and enable multi-factor authentication.
Claims that are outdated or false
| Claim | What the evidence supports |
|---|---|
| “RARBG is only blocked in some countries.” | The original service permanently shut down on May 31, 2023. |
| “Use the latest proxy to reach the original site.” | There is no operating original site for a proxy to reach. |
“rarbg.to being online proves RARBG returned.” |
The domain was reported sold and repurposed as a Thai casino-affiliate site. |
| “The old design proves a mirror is official.” | Branding and interface replication do not prove operator identity or database continuity. |
| “RARBG releases continued after closure.” | Older releases circulated through third parties; official publishing ended with the shutdown. |
| “HTTPS means a mirror is safe.” | HTTPS does not verify ownership, legitimacy, advertising, or file safety. |
| “A VPN makes a mirror official.” | A VPN changes your network route; it does not authenticate a domain or inspect downloads. |
What about claims of a complete RARBG database?
A current clone’s appearance cannot independently prove that it has the complete original database. Post-shutdown preservation projects did publish collections of older magnet links; one reported archive contained more than 267,000 movie and television magnet links. Such collections were separate preservation efforts, not evidence of an official RARBG relaunch.

Bottom line on RARBG proxy lists
There is no verified RARBG proxy, official mirror, relaunch, or successor domain for 2024. The original service closed permanently in 2023, and the former rarbg.to domain was later repurposed. Treat every current RARBG-branded page as unaffiliated unless independently proven otherwise—and in practice, do not use the branding, HTTPS, search ranking, or copied database appearance as proof of safety.

Cancel the prompt and close the page. Do not install software offered by an unexpected redirect or download page. If you already installed it, remove the application or extension and run a full security scan.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: No verified RARBG proxy or official mirror list exists. RARBG permanently closed on May 31, 2023; current RARBG-branded domains are unverified and may be unsafe. Do not treat a copied design, old torrent list, search result, HTTPS certificate, or VPN connection as proof of authenticity.
