A champion’s tier-list rank is a starting point, not a verdict on whether that champion is right for your RAID: Shadow Legends account. Judge a candidate by the game mode you play, the job your team needs, how the champion’s skills fit your roster, and whether your gear and account bonuses can support the build.
What a tier-list rank can—and cannot—tell you
A tier list reflects the criteria and content chosen by its publisher. Plarium’s list combines ratings for key endgame activities, including Demon Lord Clan Boss, Eternal Dragon, and dungeons, while distinguishing PvE value from PvP value. That broad average can be useful for spotting champions worth investigating, but it may conceal a champion’s specific strengths or weaknesses in the mode you care about. Plarium’s tier list was last updated September 3, 2025; treat its ratings as a dated snapshot, not a guarantee of current performance.
For example, that article gives Arbiter, a Legendary Support champion with Void affinity, a combined endgame score of 4.9/5 and describes uses in Arena, Faction Wars, and Dungeons. The score is Plarium’s rating in that article, not a win probability or an independent evaluation. A high overall rating also does not establish that Arbiter is the best next build for every roster or activity.

- Choose the activity first. Name the specific mode or fight you want to improve, such as Arena, Clan Boss, a dungeon, or Faction Wars. Avoid comparing broad scores when the decision is about one particular slot.
- Identify the missing job. Decide what your team needs from the next champion. Read the candidate’s skills to see what they actually contribute, rather than relying on a label or aggregate score.
- Check team fit. Ask whether the champion fills a gap or duplicates a function your team already covers. Consider how the skills work alongside your existing champions and whether the composition can counter the opponent.
- Assess matchups. Check affinity alongside the opponent’s composition. Affinity affects skills and damage, but it should inform a role-and-team assessment rather than act as a stand-alone ranking rule. Plarium’s affinity guidance explains the mechanic.
- Check whether you can build the champion for the job. Consider whether your available gear can support the needed stats. Speed affects turn order and turn-meter progression; Accuracy matters for landing debuffs. Plarium’s Artifact guide describes the equipment slots and set effects.
- Account for your own bonuses. Arena tier bonuses and Great Hall upgrades can change stats, so another player’s comparison may not transfer directly to your account. Use Champion Power as an estimate, not a prediction of who will win.
- Verify the ranking’s date and scope. Confirm that the list is recent enough for your decision and covers the same mode. Balance changes can make older placements less useful.
Compare candidates for the same role and mode
If you are deciding who to build next, compare the candidates against one another under the same conditions. A broad endgame average is not a substitute for asking which champion better solves your actual team’s problem.

| Question | What to check |
|---|---|
| Role and skills | Which needed function does each champion provide? Read the skills to understand the contribution. |
| Team fit | Does the champion add something missing, or duplicate an existing role? Do the skills complement your allies? |
| Matchup | How do affinity and the opposing composition affect the fight? |
| Build feasibility | Can your gear provide the stats the role needs, including Speed or Accuracy where relevant? |
| Account state | How do your Arena tier bonuses, Great Hall upgrades, and available gear affect the comparison? |
| Evidence | What date and game mode does the tier list cover? |
Why Champion Power is not a verdict
Plarium says Champion and Team Power are approximate calculations based on stats that include HP, Attack, Defense, Speed, Critical Rate, Critical Damage, Resistance, and Accuracy. Higher Team Power does not guarantee a win. As Plarium puts it in its official RAID Support guidance, “Team synergy and counter-pick are a much more accurate way to defeat your opponents.”
That distinction matters when judging champions: a power number summarizes some stats, while a team’s result depends on how its members’ skills, builds, and matchups work together. The same support page says Arena tier bonuses can increase champion stats by up to 25%; Plarium does not show a publication date for that figure on the page reviewed. Great Hall upgrades also improve stats, so accounts with different bonuses may not get the same results from otherwise similar champions.

Is a champion worth taking to 6 stars?
Use the same decision process before committing resources: identify the mode and team problem, compare the champion with alternatives that fill the same role, and check whether the required build is achievable with your gear. A high overall tier placement alone does not answer whether the investment will improve your particular roster. When the evidence is a broad rating, look for a mode-specific assessment dated for the current balance state before treating it as decisive.
