The Ragnok Mousegun is a vertical gaming mouse shaped like a pistol grip for first-person shooter (FPS) games. Its scroll wheel sits on top and its front buttons resemble triggers, according to New Atlas’s May 15, 2019 coverage. The design aims to make shooter controls feel more immersive, but available coverage does not establish better aim, competitive results, or a medical ergonomics benefit.
What the Ragnok Mousegun is
The Mousegun is a niche pointing device that replaces the familiar flat, palm-down mouse posture with a grip modeled on a handgun. You hold it more like a handle than a conventional mouse, while moving it across the desk to control the game.
New Atlas identified two distinctive physical features: a scroll wheel on top and two trigger-like buttons at the front. Those descriptions come from the 2019 article and should not be treated as a complete technical specification. The available coverage does not establish the sensor model, polling rate, DPI range, weight, connection type, software features, or current retail availability of the original Mousegun.

Immersion and novelty
A pistol-style grip can make a shooting game feel physically themed around aiming and firing. That is primarily an interface and aesthetic choice, useful to players who value novelty or role-playing over a familiar esports setup.
#1 Best Overall
- Ergonomic Gun-Grip Design – Vertical grip reduces wrist strain and helps prevent RSI. Comfortable for long gaming sessions.
- Real Recoil Feedback – Built-in linear motor simulates real gun recoil for a more immersive FPS experience.
- Trigger-Based Controls – Left click becomes a true trigger pull. Includes zoom toggle and burst-fire button.
- High Precision – Up to 26000 DPI with PixArt sensor. Fast, accurate tracking for any playstyle.
- Custom Profiles – Use Ragnok software to remap buttons, adjust recoil strength, and save app-specific settings.
A different hand posture
Vertical mice are commonly marketed around a more neutral forearm and palm position. WIRED’s review of the separate Hansker Productivity Vertical Gaming Mouse discusses that rationale, but its experience concerns another product. It does not prove that the Mousegun prevents wrist strain, repetitive-stress injury, or other health problems.
Does a pistol-shaped mouse improve aim?
There is no controlled test in the available coverage showing that the Mousegun improves accuracy, reaction time, tracking, or competitive performance. A shape that feels natural to one player may feel awkward to another, and switching from a conventional mouse also introduces a learning period.

Individual community reactions can illustrate questions about handling, but they are anecdotes rather than representative testing. Treat claims about easier headshots, steadier aim, or reduced fatigue as unverified unless they are supported by a specific, credible hands-on test.

Mousegun, conventional FPS mouse, and other vertical designs
| Decision factor | Ragnok Mousegun | Conventional FPS mouse | Other vertical mouse |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grip | Pistol-style vertical grip | Flat, palm-down or claw/fingertip grip | Vertical orientation; exact shape varies |
| Controls documented in cited coverage | Top scroll wheel and two trigger-like front buttons | Not stated | Not stated |
| Sensor, polling, weight, and connection | Not stated | Depends on model | Depends on model |
| Evidence of improved FPS performance | Not established | Model- and player-dependent | Not established for the Mousegun |
| Best reason to choose it | Immersive, unusual pistol styling | Familiarity and broad competitive support | Interest in a vertical posture without necessarily using a gun-shaped shell |
For serious competitive play, compare the actual sensor behavior, polling rate, weight, button placement, lift-off behavior, cable or wireless connection, and software support of the models you can buy. The Mousegun coverage does not provide enough comparable measurements to declare it superior.

ErgoStrike7
Ragnok’s current ErgoStrike7 page describes a trigger-style gaming mouse with linear-motor recoil feedback. The manufacturer says recoil can be toggled and offers two adjustable levels. Those features belong to the ErgoStrike7; they should not be attributed to the original Mousegun without separate documentation.
FireGrip
A shop listing calls the Ragnok FireGrip a second-generation gun-shaped vertical gaming mouse for FPS games. Its rating section contains mixed handling comments. Because those comments are retailer-hosted anecdotes, they cannot establish typical comfort, durability, or performance.
Rank #4
- Pistol-Grip Ergonomics – Vertical handgun-style design offers a natural hold, reduces wrist fatigue, and improves aim stability during FPS games.
- High-Precision Sensor – PixArt PAW3335 optical sensor with adjustable DPI up to 16,000, 400 IPS tracking, and 35g acceleration for reliable accuracy.
- Vibration Feedback – Built-in motor provides optional recoil vibration for a more immersive shooting experience; toggle on/off anytime.

How to decide whether this type of mouse suits you
- Prioritize grip fit. Check whether your hand can reach the wheel and front buttons without twisting your wrist or overextending your fingers.
- Confirm the control layout. A trigger-like button arrangement may not match the thumb and index-finger habits you developed on a standard mouse.
- Verify the specifications for the exact listing. Look for sensor details, adjustable sensitivity, polling rate, weight, dimensions, connection method, operating-system support, and button-remapping software.
- Plan for adaptation. Test it first in an aim trainer or noncompetitive game. Keep your previous mouse available while learning the new grip.
- Separate comfort from medical claims. Stop using any mouse that causes pain, numbness, or tingling and seek appropriate professional advice; a vertical shell is not a treatment.
- Check return and warranty terms. Handling is highly personal, and the cited coverage does not establish a universal fit.
What the evidence supports—and what it does not
- The Ragnok Mousegun is a pistol-handle-style vertical mouse associated with FPS gaming.
- New Atlas’s 2019 description identifies a top scroll wheel and two trigger-like front buttons.
- Ragnok’s ErgoStrike7 is a related product with advertised toggleable, two-level recoil feedback; it is not evidence about the original Mousegun.
- FireGrip retailer comments are individual impressions, not a representative review study.
- No suitable named statistic, independent expert quotation, controlled performance test, or verified health outcome is established for the Mousegun in the cited material.
Bottom line
The Ragnok Mousegun is best understood as an immersive novelty peripheral for FPS players who specifically want a pistol-style grip. Choose it for the physical concept and willingness to adapt—not on the assumption that its shape will make you more accurate, more competitive, or medically safer than a conventional mouse.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- Realistic aiming actions: This gun mouse can move horizontally back, forth, left, and right, and the wrist can also swing up and down. That is to say, when the wrist(or arm) swings up, down, left, and right, the game crosshair moves up, down, left, and right accordingly.
- Realistic gun grip design and feel: Just like holding a real pistal while aiming and shooting in games. The trigger uses a mouse button, so it does not have the force and stroke of a real weapon, but ensures response speed and good feel.
- Ultra smooth movement: At the bottom of this gaming mouse, design with fan-shaped arrangement of pulleys, allowing for faster and smoother swinging of the wrist or arm. Bearings are also used for up and down swinging, resulting in very low resistance. Motions will entirely dependent on the joints of your hands.
- Independent DPI setting: The horizontal and vertical sensors respectively have independent DPI setting buttons, with 8 horizontal segments and 10 vertical segments of DPI value, to meet the needs of fine DPI adjustment as a gaming mouse.
