There is no objectively established best class in Ragnarok X: Next Generation in the official material cited here. Choose by the role and activities you enjoy, then confirm the available classes and rules on your server: the roster and class systems can vary by update and region.
Which class should you choose?
Start with how you want to contribute in combat, rather than a universal tier ranking. The official class descriptions provide useful role clues, but they do not establish which job currently performs best in PvE, PvP, solo play, or parties.

These are publisher-described playstyles, not rankings. The official class page also shows Swordsman branches including AGI Swordsman, Spear Knight, and VIT Knight. - Pick a role first: Decide whether you want ranged, magic, melee, healing/support, or a flexible attack-and-support style.
- Think about your usual group: Consider whether you expect to play alone or with a party, and whether you care more about PvE or PvP. The cited official descriptions do not compare class performance across those activities.
- Check your progression stage: A class you can select or convert to depends on the game’s current advancement rules.
- Verify your server: Region and update version can affect which classes and features are available.
There is not enough evidence here to rank classes by damage, ease of play, gear cost, or overall strength. Treat claims that one class is definitively strongest as version- and mode-specific unless supported by current evidence for your server.

What the class-unlock announcements do—and do not—tell you
Third-class access
The publisher’s third-class announcement describes six jobs—Ranger, Warlock, Archbishop, Rune Knight, Guillotine Cross, and Mechanic—and says access requires Job Level 70 or above plus a quest sequence with three tests. Those are the requirements in that announcement; check the current in-game guidance and your server’s notices before planning around them. Read the official third-class conversion announcement.
Free class change in EU/ME
An EU/ME server announcement dated June 26, 2026 says free class change opens July 14. It specifies that players must have reached second class, be at Job Level 30 or higher, and complete the class-change guide quest. This is regional, dated guidance—not a universal rule for every server. Consult the EU/ME maintenance announcement and your own server’s latest notices before switching.

Third-class access and a class-change feature are different systems. The Job Level 70 requirement belongs to the cited third-class announcement; second class and Job Level 30 or higher belong to the EU/ME free class-change notice. Do not use one requirement as a substitute for the other.
Why older class lists can be incomplete
A June 15, 2026 Steam update notice announces the Arcanist class and describes Doram as able to deal damage, support teammates, and adapt to situations. This newer notice is one reason an older class list may not reflect what is available on a particular server. It does not establish that Arcanist is live in every region, or that it outperforms other classes. Check the official Steam update notices and local server announcements for current availability.

What “best class” can reliably mean
For a practical choice, “best” means the class whose described role fits the way you want to play and the content you intend to tackle. The official sources cited here help identify those roles and some version-specific progression rules; they do not provide a current comparative PvE or PvP tier list. Make the final decision using the class options and rules shown on your server.
