If you’re choosing between the Radeon RX 9070 XT and the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB for gaming, the RX 9070 XT is the stronger pick in the cited game tests—including the cited ray-tracing comparisons. But that does not make it the automatic value choice: the cards were listed at nearly the same US price in an October 2026 snapshot, and your games, exact card model, power needs, and live checkout price still matter.
How the two cards differ
Both cards have 16GB of video memory, but use different memory types. AMD specifies GDDR6 for the RX 9070 XT; Tom’s Hardware’s RTX 5060 Ti review covers the distinct 16GB GDDR7 model. Be precise when shopping: the RTX 5060 Ti also comes in an 8GB configuration.
| Specification | Radeon RX 9070 XT | GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB |
|---|---|---|
| Memory | 16GB GDDR6 (AMD launch specification) | 16GB GDDR7 (Tom’s Hardware review) |
| Launch pricing context | $599 US suggested etail price at launch in February 2025; not a current price | Not stated in the cited review evidence; retail pricing and availability affect its recommendation |
| Board power | 304W total board power in AMD’s launch specification; partner models can vary | Not stated in the cited comparison evidence |
AMD announced RX 9070 XT availability beginning March 6, 2025. Its launch specifications are useful reference points, not a guarantee of today’s price or of every partner card’s dimensions and power draw. AMD’s launch announcement has the manufacturer’s details; Tom’s Hardware’s RTX 5060 Ti review covers the 16GB model.

The cited direct comparison favors the RX 9070 XT, but no single result guarantees the same gap in every game or setup. TechSpot tested the two cards across 52 games and reported varying outcomes. Its game-specific results are useful when those titles and settings match what you play. Read TechSpot’s 52-game comparison for its full methodology and results.

Fortnite
In TechSpot’s Fortnite Performance Mode tests, the RX 9070 XT was 14% faster at 1440p and 30% faster at 4K. In Fortnite Epic Quality with ray tracing enabled, TechSpot reported 120 fps versus 78 fps at 1440p, and 66 fps versus 44 fps at 4K, for the RX 9070 XT and RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, respectively.
Forza Horizon 6
In TechSpot’s 1440p Extreme rasterized test, the RX 9070 XT delivered 140 fps versus 85 fps for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. With ray tracing at 1440p, the reported figures were 75 fps versus 42 fps. At 4K with ray tracing, both struggled in that test: 43 fps versus 24 fps.
These are results from TechSpot’s particular test setup, game versions, and settings—not predictions for every PC. For a buying decision, look for results in the games you actually play at your target resolution and quality settings.

Does the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB win at ray tracing?
Not in the cited comparisons. TechSpot’s Fortnite and Forza Horizon 6 examples favor the RX 9070 XT, and Tom’s Hardware’s 2026 aggregate ray-tracing hierarchy also places it above the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB at each displayed resolution. That evidence supports a lead in those tests, not a claim that AMD wins every ray-traced game.
| Tom’s Hardware 2026 aggregate ray-tracing hierarchy | RX 9070 XT | RTX 5060 Ti 16GB |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p Ultra | 61.9% of the hierarchy’s fastest entry; 77.8 fps | 44.7%; 56.2 fps |
| 1440p Ultra | 55.1%; 55.5 fps | 38.6%; 38.9 fps |
| 4K Ultra | 47.0%; 30.1 fps | 32.1%; 20.6 fps |
The percentages are relative to the fastest entry in Tom’s Hardware’s hierarchy; the frame rates come from its aggregate test suite. Results can differ by title, settings, drivers, and test configuration. See Tom’s Hardware’s 2026 GPU hierarchy for its suite and comparisons.
Which is better value at current prices?
In PC Gamer’s US graphics-card tracker, published October 1 and accessed October 5, 2026, Amazon offers were listed at $790.22 for the RX 9070 XT and $788.50 for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. These are dated tracker snapshots, not guaranteed checkout prices; seller, stock, and listing can change. Check PC Gamer’s graphics-card price tracker, then verify the price and exact model with the seller.

- Chipset: AMD RX 9070 XT
- Memory: 16 GB GDDR6
- XFX SWFT Triple Fan Cooling Solution
- Boost Clock Up to 2970 MHz
At those near-equal listed prices, the cited gaming benchmarks make the RX 9070 XT the more compelling gaming-performance option. But compare the actual models available to you: a changed price gap, local pricing, or a card’s physical and power requirements can alter the decision. AMD’s $599 launch suggested price dates to February 2025 and should not be treated as a live offer.
What to check before buying
- Your game list: Find independent results for the games you play rather than assuming one card leads in every title.
- Resolution and settings: Compare at your intended resolution and quality level; results can shift between 1080p, 1440p, and 4K.
- Ray tracing: Use tests for the specific games and features you care about. The cited aggregate and game tests favor the RX 9070 XT, but do not establish outcomes for every title.
- Exact RTX configuration: Confirm the listing says 16GB, not 8GB.
- Power and clearance: AMD lists 304W TBP for its RX 9070 XT launch specification. Check the particular partner card’s dimensions, power connectors, and PSU guidance against your system.
- Non-gaming work: The cited evidence is a gaming comparison, so it does not establish which card is better for your creator applications or AI workload. Look for benchmarks of the exact software and task.
Verdict
For a gaming build where both cards cost about the same and the RX 9070 XT fits your system, choose the RX 9070 XT: the cited direct and aggregate tests favor it, including the tested ray-tracing scenarios. Choose the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB if its actual price, exact model, system fit, or a workload-specific result makes it the better match for you. Recheck the live seller price before deciding; October 2026 tracker listings are only a snapshot.
