Lenovo has confirmed that some of its tablets are affected by Qualcomm Fastboot UEFI vulnerabilities. Its advisory says a person with physical access may be able to bypass security mechanisms and load an unsigned kernel image. The available advisory information does not confirm that Microsoft or Samsung devices are affected by these same flaws.
Which devices are confirmed to be affected?
Lenovo’s advisory LEN-212148 covers some Lenovo tablets. The company’s indexed record lists seven vulnerabilities: CVE-2026-24085, CVE-2026-24087, CVE-2026-24088, CVE-2026-24089, CVE-2026-24090, CVE-2026-24091 and CVE-2026-24092. Lenovo first published the record on June 9, 2026, and updated it on July 16, 2026.
The advisory does not mean every Lenovo tablet is affected. The affected models and the firmware versions that address the issue are model-specific; check LEN-212148 against your exact tablet model.

What do the Qualcomm Fastboot UEFI flaws allow?
Lenovo describes a scenario requiring physical access to the tablet. In that scenario, a user may be able to bypass security mechanisms and load an unsigned kernel image. This is a pre-boot security concern, not evidence that the flaws let an attacker compromise a device remotely over the internet.

The CVE index describes two entries in more detail. It identifies CVE-2026-24085 as memory corruption while processing display command-line information and CVE-2026-24087 as memory corruption while processing Fastboot OEM commands; both are rated high severity there. The available descriptions do not establish the individual technical mechanics of the other five CVEs, so they should not be inferred from these two.
| CVE | Information stated in the available record |
|---|---|
| CVE-2026-24085 | Memory corruption while processing display command-line information; high severity in the CVE index. |
| CVE-2026-24087 | Memory corruption while processing Fastboot OEM commands; high severity in the CVE index. |

Are Microsoft or Samsung devices affected?
Impact on Microsoft and Samsung devices is unconfirmed. The available advisory records do not identify Microsoft or Samsung models affected by this Qualcomm Fastboot UEFI CVE set. A headline naming those manufacturers is not enough to establish that their devices are vulnerable; look for a matching advisory from Qualcomm or the device manufacturer before treating a particular model as affected.

How can you check your Lenovo tablet?
- Identify the exact model. Use the tablet’s model designation, not just its product family or the name printed on the case.
- Check Lenovo advisory LEN-212148. Compare your exact model with the models listed in the advisory.
- Compare the installed firmware with Lenovo’s model-specific fixed version. Lenovo directs affected owners to install the firmware version specified for their exact model or a later version.
- Use Lenovo’s update guidance for the matching model. Do not install firmware intended for a different tablet, even if the model names are similar.
If the advisory does not list your exact model, or you cannot determine whether your installed firmware meets the stated version, do not assume either that the tablet is affected or that it is patched. Confirm the model and firmware against Lenovo’s support information.
Do you need a firmware update or a Secure Boot certificate update?
For a Lenovo tablet covered by LEN-212148, the stated remedy is the model-specific firmware version in Lenovo’s advisory or a later version. That is the relevant action for these Qualcomm flaws.

Microsoft separately explains that Secure Boot is a UEFI firmware feature that verifies signatures on software loaded before the operating system. Microsoft says certificates issued in 2011 begin expiring in 2026; devices that do not receive newer certificates may stop receiving new early-boot security protections. Microsoft describes firmware or certificate updates from Microsoft or the device manufacturer as the remedy for that certificate transition. This separate guidance does not connect certificate expiry to the Qualcomm CVEs listed in Lenovo’s advisory.
