The Qotom Q30952UE is a compact network appliance whose standout feature is its mix of six 2.5GbE RJ45 ports and two 10GbE SFP+ ports. It is not a fully fanless or silent box: its CPU is passively cooled, but an internal fan moves air around memory and storage. ServeTheHome’s 2026 review measured that fan at 39–41 dBA and found the older four-core i5-8260U less capable than newer options. The port count is appealing, but the review does not establish how quickly the system can route or firewall real traffic.
What does the Qotom Q30952UE offer?
ServeTheHome reviewed the Q30952UE as a compact mini-PC measuring 196 × 122 × 47 mm and weighing 1.29 kg. Its defining feature is connectivity: six 2.5GbE copper ports with RJ45 jacks, plus two 10GbE SFP+ ports. The 10G connections are SFP+, not 10GBASE-T RJ45, so they require an appropriate SFP+ link at the other endpoint. ServeTheHome’s review identifies the tested unit’s ports and dimensions.
Inside the reviewed sample were an Intel Core i5-8260U, 8GB of DDR4-2400 in a single SO-DIMM, and a 128GB M.2 SSD connected over PCIe Gen3 x1. It shipped without a pre-installed operating system; ServeTheHome tested it with Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. The tested power adapter was an external 12V, 7A unit. These are observations about that review sample, not a promise that every retail configuration ships with the same memory, drive, or software.

It also describes provisions for additional storage and wireless or cellular modules; those family specifications should not be confused with components included in the reviewed unit.

Is the Qotom Q30952UE fanless or quiet?
No—not as a whole system. The CPU uses passive cooling, but ServeTheHome found an internal fan that moves air around memory and storage. The reviewer measured 39–41 dBA and wrote: “At the same time, the fan is just too loud in the 39-41dba range.” That makes it a poor assumption that the Q30952UE will be inaudible in a quiet office, living room, or noise-sensitive installation. The review is the source for the fan description and noise measurement.
How old is its processor, and what does that mean for networking?
The Intel Core i5-8260U is a four-core, eight-thread low-power processor launched in 2019. ServeTheHome characterizes it as aging and slower than many newer options. The review also notes that the platform has 16 PCIe Gen3 lanes, giving it more room for system I/O than lower-lane-count alternatives.

That processor context is not a throughput result. CPU benchmarks can help describe general compute capability, but they do not demonstrate packet rates for a particular router or firewall setup. The reviewed material does not establish line-rate 10G routing, nor performance with any defined combination of firewall rules, VPN encryption, IDS/IPS inspection, software, and traffic patterns. If those features matter, look for measurements using the same software and workload you plan to run.

What power use did the review measure?
ServeTheHome measured 13–16W at idle and 45–55W at maximum in its test configuration. The reviewer also attributed an additional 5–8W to the Intel X710 network adapter. These are measurements from the reviewed setup, not vendor guarantees or universal figures for all configurations. ServeTheHome’s review provides the power figures and describes its test system.

What storage and expansion options are available?
Qotom lists the following provisions for the S13 family:
- One 2.5-inch HDD/SSD connection.
- One M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x1 storage slot.
- One M.2 2230 E-key slot for Wi-Fi.
- One M.2 3042/3052 B-key slot for 4G/5G modules.
ServeTheHome found a SATA data-and-power cable in its sample and described its included SSD as 128GB. The tested M.2 drive used a PCIe Gen3 x1 connection, so do not assume the slot has the bandwidth of a wider PCIe link. Qotom lists one SO-DIMM socket and a maximum of 32GB for the family. Who should consider the Qotom Q30952UE?
It may suit someone who values many network interfaces in a small chassis, especially a deployment that can make use of both 2.5GbE RJ45 and 10GbE SFP+ links. Before choosing it for a high-throughput firewall or router, verify performance with your intended operating system, configuration, enabled services, and traffic. For a quiet room, factor in the measured internal-fan noise rather than relying on the CPU’s passive cooling description.

- CPU generation and core/thread count, plus workload-specific routing or security throughput.
- Cooling design and measured noise.
- Idle and peak power under a comparable configuration.
- Memory ceiling and storage interfaces.
- Price and availability, which need checking at the time of purchase.
The available sources do not verify compatibility for a particular DAC cable, optical module, RJ45 SFP+ transceiver, switch pairing, or cable distance. Confirm the requirements of both endpoints and the chosen link components before buying. Current stock, pricing, firmware status, and operating-system compatibility beyond Qotom’s stated Windows 10/Linux support are also not established by these sources.
