QNAP announced the TS-h1077AFU on March 4, 2026: a compact 1U rackmount NAS with ten 2.5-inch SATA drive bays, QuTS hero and an AMD Ryzen PRO 7000-series processor. It is aimed at business workloads such as virtualization, databases, media production and backup, but its headline performance figures were measured using four 25GbE connections—not the system’s built-in ports.
What is the QNAP TS-h1077AFU?
The TS-h1077AFU is a 1U, ten-bay SATA all-flash NAS running QNAP’s ZFS-based QuTS hero operating system. QNAP announced it on March 4, 2026, positioning it as compact flash storage for business deployments. It is SATA-based, not an NVMe-bay model. QNAP’s launch announcement and product page describe its hardware and intended uses.

What workloads is it designed for?
QNAP identifies these as target workloads and deployment settings; that positioning is not a guarantee that every workload will benefit equally.
#1 Best Overall
- AnnapurnaLabs Alpine AL324 ARM Cortex-A57 quad-core 1.7GHz processor
- 4 GB SODIMM DDR4 (Max 16 GB)
- 8 x 3.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s, 3Gb/s (Diskless)
- 2 x 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet Port (2.5G/1G/100M)
- 2 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet Port
- Virtualization and VDI: shared storage for virtual machines and virtual desktops, where concurrent I/O and network capacity matter.
- Enterprise applications: QNAP specifically names log processing and database caching.
- Media production: high-resolution editing and streaming workflows.
- Backup and restore: business data protection and recovery workloads.
- Branch offices and MSP infrastructure: deployments where compact rack space is useful.
Actual suitability depends on the SSD models, RAID layout, network design, memory allocation, software configuration and number of concurrent users. A fast storage appliance can still be constrained by clients, switches or the workload itself.
How to interpret QNAP’s performance figures
QNAP publishes two QNAP Labs results on the product page. They are vendor test results, not independent comparisons or expected outcomes for a typical single-client installation.
Rank #2
- Intel Atom C5125 8C 2.8GHz processor and 8GB U-DIMM DDR4 RAM (up to 128GB with ECC Support).
- Single 10Gbase-T (10G/5G/2.5G/1G/100M) and dual 2.5GbE (2.5G/1G/100M) ports accelerate file sharing across teams and devices or streamline large file transfers.
- Dual M.2 PCIe Gen 3 x4 NVMe SSD slots enable cache acceleration or SSD storage pools for improved performance.
- Dual PCIe Gen 3 x4 slots allow for installing additional Network adapters, QM2 cards, or Fibre Channel cards to increase application performance.
- Backup Google Workspace & Microsoft 365 accounts and files to NAS with Boxafe
| Result reported by QNAP Labs | Test context stated by QNAP |
|---|---|
| 1,142,025 read IOPS and 959,344 write IOPS | 4K random IOPS over four 25GbE iSCSI connections; compression on and deduplication off. The listed TS-h1077AFU-R7-32G had 64 GB RAM, QuTS hero h5.2.5 and ten Samsung 870 EVO 1TB SSDs in RAID 5. |
| 11,576 MB/s read and 11,740 MB/s write | Sequential 1M SMB throughput over four 25GbE connections; compression on and deduplication off. QNAP describes four client PCs simultaneously reading and writing 64 GB files. |
QNAP cautions that results may vary by environment. The four-port 25GbE test setup also differs substantially from the two 2.5GbE and two 10GBASE-T ports listed as built in. Achieving a similar network setup requires suitable PCIe networking, switching, clients and configuration; the published figures should not be treated as throughput from the standard ports or as a guarantee for a particular workload. See the test details on QNAP’s product page.

What to check before choosing it
SATA SSDs versus NVMe
Choose it only if 2.5-inch SATA SSDs meet the workload’s interface and performance needs. Its ten bays are for SATA drives; readers who require NVMe drive bays should compare systems designed for NVMe rather than infer support from the all-flash label.
Rank #3
- [Intel Quad-Core High-Efficiency Processor] Powered by Intel Atom C3538 quad-core CPU, optimized for multitasking, file sharing, backup operations, and continuous 24/7 enterprise workloads.
- [Enterprise 10-Bay High-Capacity NAS Server] Designed for business and professional environments, supporting up to 10 SATA drives for massive storage scalability, RAID protection, and centralized data management.
- [Dual 10GbE + Dual 2.5GbE High-Speed Networking] Equipped with dual Intel 10GbE and dual 2.5GbE ports, delivering ultra-fast data transfer speeds and supporting link aggregation for enterprise-level bandwidth performance.
- [M.2 NVMe SSD Cache Acceleration] Supports dual M.2 NVMe SSD slots for caching, significantly improving system responsiveness, read/write speeds, and database performance.
- [Business-Grade RAID Storage Protection] Supports multiple RAID configurations for data redundancy and protection, making it ideal for mission-critical business storage environments.
Capacity and drive compatibility
Ten bays provide room for a multi-drive array, but usable capacity depends on drive sizes, RAID choice and filesystem overhead. QNAP’s benchmark used Samsung 870 EVO 1TB SSDs as a test configuration; that alone is not a current compatibility certification or a general drive recommendation. Confirm the exact drive model and intended use against QNAP’s compatibility list.
Network requirements
Match the built-in 2.5GbE and 10GBASE-T ports to the clients and switching equipment you already have. If a workload calls for 25GbE, account for the PCIe adapter and the rest of the network path; the four-connection benchmark is not representative of a single built-in link.
Rank #4
- Quad-core Intel N5105/N5095 4-core/4-thread burst up to 2.9 GHz with 8GB DDR4 RAM
- Dual 2.5GbE (2.5G/1G/100M) ports accelerates file sharing across teams and devices or streamline large file transfers
- Dual M.2 PCIe Gen3x2 NVMe SSD slots enable cache acceleration or SSD storage pools for improved performance
- Multiple USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports (type-A) with up to 10Gb/s transfer speeds, allowing compatibility with newer, faster USB drives/expansion enclosures for transferring large media files
- Centrally store and organize personal or family photos, music, and videos
Memory and workload sizing
The listed system has 32 GB ECC memory, while QNAP states support up to 192 GB. Estimate memory needs from the number and type of virtual machines, applications, concurrent users and data services, then confirm the upgrade configuration before ordering.
Redundancy, backup and expansion
Plan drive redundancy and a separate backup strategy around recovery objectives; RAID alone is not a backup. QNAP names the TL-R2400PES-RP 24-bay SATA JBOD as an expansion option, but adding capacity does not replace backup planning. Consider whether the chassis, network and power infrastructure support the intended expansion.

Lifecycle, warranty and total system cost
QNAP states planned availability and support through 2030 and lists a five-year standard warranty on its English landing page. Verify local warranty terms and lifecycle details. Budget for the NAS plus compatible SSDs, any required network upgrades, switching, and expansion hardware; current street pricing and stock are not established here.
