Punjab’s Pink Salt Value Addition Financing Scheme was reported launched on 1 October 2026, with an announced allocation of Rs 5 billion and financing of up to Rs 50 million per business. The scheme is intended to help businesses process, brand and develop pink-salt products for export. Eligibility, application steps, repayment terms and current application status have not been specified in the published information reviewed here.
Which scheme launched, and when?
The announcement concerns the Punjab Pink Salt Value Addition Financing Scheme, also listed by the Punjab Mines & Minerals Department as the “CM Punjab Pink Salt Value Addition Financing Scheme.” The department’s highlight, dated 15 July 2026, describes soft loans of up to Rs 50 million. Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched the scheme on 1 October 2026 and distributed cheques to 10 businesspeople who had secured interest-free loans. That report does not explain how those recipients qualified.
How much financing is announced?
APP reported a scheme allocation of Rs 5 billion, with financing of up to Rs 50 million for an individual business. It also reported that the Punjab government would bear Rs 1.456 billion in interest costs. These are announced figures: the reports do not establish that the entire allocation has been lent or that the full interest cost has already been incurred.

The stated focus is adding value to pink salt rather than exporting only raw material. The initiative is intended to support processing and the development and branding of products for international markets. At the launch, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “Pink salt is Pakistan’s uniqueness,” according to APP, and called for branded, value-added exports.

What facilities and outcomes have officials described?
APP reported an officials’ briefing that described a specialised 110-acre Pink Salt Processing Unit established in Quaidabad. Separately, a Pink Salt Mineral Processing Zone is planned to accommodate 200 value-addition units and create more than 10,000 jobs. The established facility and planned zone are different projects; the report does not say the zone is already operating.
Officials cited by APP said value addition, branding and product development could increase annual exports by up to $300 million. This is projected potential, not a measured export increase or independently verified forecast.

- Repayment schedule, loan tenor and any fees
- Collateral or other security requirements
- Eligible business activities and how funds may be used
The 10 cheques reported at launch confirm that recipients had secured loans by that date; they do not establish that new applications are open to every business. Do not assume that rules from another Punjab loan program apply to this scheme.
