Yes. KRAFTON has ended development of PUBG: Black Budget, its planned extraction-shooter spin-off. The PUBG: Black Budget team said its current direction would not deliver an experience players could enjoy over the long term. The game had not received a release date, and no successor has been announced.
Why was PUBG: Black Budget cancelled?
In its September 30 announcement on Steam, the PUBG: Black Budget team said: “After reviewing the project’s development status and future direction, we concluded that its current direction would not allow us to deliver an experience players could enjoy over the long term.”
That is the studio’s stated reason. The announcement does not explain the decision in terms of sales, production costs, or any particular playtest issue, so those should not be presented as established causes.
What was Black Budget, and was it released?
Black Budget was planned as a first-person extraction shooter set on Coli, a time-loop island. Aju Press reported that matches were designed for up to 45 players in three-person squads. The game never received a release date, according to Aju Press; there is no evidence of a commercial release or retail edition.
