A brief U.S. PlayStation Direct availability window for the 2TB PS5 Pro at $899 was reported on October 6, 2026, followed by resale offers reaching $1,500. That figure describes asking prices—not a verified eBay sale. Recent completed eBay listings in the available records were lower, at $1,195 for a used console and $1,249.99 for a new, sealed one.
What happened to the $899 PS5 Pro stock?
GameGPU reported on October 6, 2026, that a PlayStation Direct batch of 2TB PS5 Pro consoles priced at $899 sold out within minutes. The report does not state how many consoles were in the batch. Game Developer also reported that PlayStation Direct was unavailable that day, while the third-party TrackaLacker stock tracker recorded brief in-stock and out-of-stock changes at $899 on October 5 and 6. These snapshots indicate a short-lived availability window; they do not establish that every U.S. retailer was out of stock or quantify total supply. Game Developer · TrackaLacker

Did a PS5 Pro actually sell for $1,500 on eBay?
The $1,500 figure was reported as a resale offer level, not a documented completed eBay transaction. The available completed-sale records show two individual listings: a used PS5 Pro with a disc drive sold for $1,195 on October 3, 2026, and a new, factory-sealed unit sold for $1,249.99 on September 18, 2026. They differ in condition and date and should not be treated as a market average. GameGPU · eBay used listing · eBay sealed listing
There is a separate high-price example from GameStop: Game Developer reported used prices of $1,399.99 for digital models and $1,499.99 for models with a disc add-on. Those were retailer prices for used consoles, not completed eBay sales. Game Developer

How does resale pricing compare with the current retail reference?
GameStop’s retrieved listing showed a new PS5 Pro at $899.99. GamesRadar’s October 2026 price table likewise gives $899.99 as the adjusted U.S. price from April 2, 2026, compared with $749.99 before that adjustment. These are comparison points, not a guarantee of current stock or checkout pricing. GameStop · GamesRadar

What to check before buying from a reseller
- Sale status: Distinguish an active asking price from a completed transaction. A listing at $1,500 does not show that a buyer paid that amount.
- Condition: Confirm whether the console is new, sealed, or pre-owned, and review the seller’s description and return terms.
- Disc drive: The PS5 Pro is all-digital by default. Sony says its compatible removable disc drive is sold separately, so verify whether a particular listing includes one and account for its cost. Sony PlayStation
- Total checkout cost: Compare shipping and any other charges as well as the listed console price; confirm the final amount and availability at checkout.
- Seller and source: Compare a marketplace offer with current retailer or PlayStation Direct availability rather than assuming a brief stock change represents the whole U.S. market.
What the PS5 Pro includes—and what “enhanced” means
Sony describes the PS5 Pro as a 2TB console with advanced ray tracing, improved image clarity on 4K TVs, and higher frame rates in PS5 Pro-enhanced games. Sony qualifies these features: they apply only to select games and vary by game. The console’s all-digital configuration also means a disc drive is an additional purchase, not part of the standard system. Sony’s PS5 Pro product page
