Project_Lamordia is a short digital Dungeons & Dragons adventure on D&D Beyond that turns Ravenloft’s Frankenstein-inspired Lamordia into a present-day techno-thriller. Its damaged laboratories, corporate secrets, failed experiments and hostile machines explain the Resident Evil and Control comparisons, while fragile Survivor characters make escaping the facility more important than winning heroic battles. GamesRadar+ reported on October 15, 2026, that its three bite-sized scenarios can feasibly be completed in one sitting.
What Project_Lamordia is
Project_Lamordia is a modern reinterpretation of Lamordia, one of Ravenloft’s Domains of Dread. The adventure is set around Mordenheim Kinetics, a high-tech company whose experiments have gone catastrophically wrong. D&D Beyond describes it as “a modernistic AI-gone-wrong nightmare” in a laboratory filled with mechanistic terrors and failed experiments.
Instead of medieval villages, castles and ordinary dungeon corridors, the scenarios use corporate espionage, ruined offices, computer terminals, futuristic passageways, damaged laboratories, killer robots and implanted memories. The result is recognizable as D&D rules applied to a contemporary survival-horror setting, not a licensed Resident Evil or Control crossover.

The product combines a present-day setting guide with three short adventures involving Mordenheim Kinetics. Each scenario is intended to work as a one-shot, so a group can experience the full concept without committing to a long campaign.

Why it feels like Resident Evil and Control
Resident Evil-style survival pressure
The comparison comes from the setting and threat design: a compromised facility, corporate experimentation, locked-down workspaces, hostile machines and the need to investigate while danger is nearby. The characters are not presented as heavily armored fantasy heroes. GamesRadar+ says groups are encouraged to use Survivors with very low health and limited abilities, making every confrontation costly and putting escape, caution and resource management at the center.
Control-style corporate weirdness
Project_Lamordia also evokes the unsettling atmosphere of a secretive organization whose technology has become impossible to control. Terminals, offices, implanted memories and failed experiments create a bureaucratic, reality-bending mystery rather than a conventional monster hunt. The comparison describes tone and imagery only; the adventure does not share either franchise’s setting or characters.

What a Halloween session looks like
- Choose the Survivor approach. Use the low-health, limited-ability characters recommended for the adventure rather than importing powerful long-term heroes. Their vulnerability is a core part of the horror.
- Set expectations before play. Explain that investigation and escape matter as much as combat. Players should expect damaged facilities, disturbing experiments, corporate secrets and technology that behaves unpredictably.
- Run one scenario in a single sitting. The three adventures are bite-sized, so a group can select one for a shorter evening or plan a longer event around the set. The reported one-sitting estimate is GamesRadar+’s assessment, not a guaranteed runtime for every table.
- Emphasize the environment. Make terminals, ruined offices, corridors, laboratories and implanted memories meaningful clues. The facility should feel like an active hazard, not merely a map containing fights.
- Keep the pressure moving. With fragile characters, repeated battles can overwhelm the premise. Use investigation, pursuit and decisions about when to run to preserve the survival-horror rhythm.
How Lamordia connects to Ravenloft
Lamordia is the Frankenstein-inspired setting associated with Ravenloft, including the figure Viktra Mordenheim. Project_Lamordia modernizes that foundation through Mordenheim Kinetics and its experimental technology rather than abandoning the original horror lineage.

Who should play it
- Best fit: groups wanting a self-contained Halloween adventure, modern science-fiction horror inside D&D, or a session where vulnerable characters must investigate and escape.
- Good fit with adjustment: fantasy groups willing to replace familiar medieval assumptions with terminals, offices, corporate intrigue and mechanistic threats.
- Less suitable: players seeking a long progression campaign, highly optimized combat builds or the sustained intensity of a dedicated horror ruleset.
GamesRadar+ praised the atmosphere but judged that the adventures do not reach the intensity of dedicated horror games such as Alien RPG Evolved Edition. That is the reviewer’s opinion, not an objective score; Project_Lamordia’s strength is its accessible D&D format and compact Halloween-ready structure.
