Eligible families may be able to get one free hotspot per household and 200 GB of internet each year for five years through T-Mobile’s Project 10Million. The direct-to-parent offer is for households with a K–12 student enrolled in one of the listed assistance programs. Approval is not automatic: you must submit qualifying, current proof, and service depends on coverage where you live.
Who is eligible?
T-Mobile’s direct-to-parent application names five qualifying programs: the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), SNAP/EBT, the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), Medicaid, and the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR). You need proof of enrollment in one of these programs dated within one year of participation. T-Mobile also says the benefit is limited to one offer per household and advises families to confirm that their qualifying program can accept free equipment or service. See the current Project 10Million offer for live terms.
T-Mobile describes the offer as limited-time and subject to change, with a limited number of lines available. It reports that Project 10Million and related programs have connected “over 6.7 million K-12 students” since launch in 2020. That is T-Mobile’s own program-scale figure, not an independently evaluated outcome.

Before uploading anything, check the current enrollment requirements. T-Mobile’s application flow generally requires documentation that identifies the parent or guardian applying, names the qualifying program, and is current and not expired. If the qualifying document does not show the guardian’s name, the flow says to provide a parent or guardian ID as well.

- Intel Celeron N4120: 4 Cores & Threads, 1.1GHz Base Clock, Up to 2.6GHz Boost Clock, 4MB Cache, Intel UHD Graphics 600. The perfect combination of performance, power consumption, and value helps your device handle multitasking smoothly and reliably with four processing cores to divide up the work.
- NSLP, SNAP/EBT, and FDPIR: Use proof that identifies the applicable program and meets the name and date requirements shown in the application.
- CEP: T-Mobile identifies a school enrollment letter or report card as possible proof, provided it meets the application’s information and date rules.
- Medicaid: Use an eligibility letter or online confirmation, or a card that identifies the Medicaid benefit. An ordinary health-insurance card that does not identify Medicaid may be rejected.
The enrollment flow allows up to three uploads and lists PNG, JPG/JPEG, and PDF files up to 9 MB. Do not send benefit identifiers in an email or elsewhere outside the secure application. Upload only what the official flow requests; its requirements can change.
How do you apply for a family account?
- Open the direct-to-parent application. Start from T-Mobile’s Project 10Million page and follow its application link. Use the family route rather than the school-district application.
- Enter the parent or guardian’s information. Make sure the applying adult’s name matches the proof, or provide the additional ID the application requests.
- Upload qualifying proof. Select a document for one of the listed programs and check that it meets the application’s current date, program-name, and file requirements.
- Review and submit the service agreement. Read the terms displayed in your application before accepting them.
- Watch for email updates and account instructions. T-Mobile says it reviews applications and sends updates by email. If you need help with a pending or denied case, follow the instructions in your account or contact official Project 10Million support.
- After approval, follow the shipment and setup instructions. The program provides a hotspot; check your order or account for the device model, shipping status, and steps to connect it. Availability and delivery estimates can vary.
What does the free service include—and what are its limits?
The current family-facing offer describes one hotspot per household and 200 GB of internet per year for five years. Treat the allowance as a capped service period, not unlimited data: T-Mobile says service ends when you reach 200 GB or when 365 days have passed, whichever comes first. Check the offer and agreement for the applicable period and current terms.
Rank #2
- Storage: 16GB Flash Memory
- OS: Chrome OS
- Screen Size: 11.6"
- Coverage: Service is not available everywhere. Check T-Mobile’s coverage for the address where the student will use the hotspot before relying on it for schoolwork.
- Roaming: T-Mobile says roaming is unavailable.
- Speed: Network congestion can mean lower speeds than other customers receive. T-Mobile says video streams at up to 2.5 Mbps in SD; this is not a guarantee of a particular speed for every activity or location.
- Filtering: Optional educational filtering may prevent access to some content.
- Device: T-Mobile support lists ANS, Wingtech, Franklin T10, Franklin T9, and Alcatel Link Zone 2 models used in the program. That list does not guarantee which model a family will receive, nor does it establish that a particular accessory is compatible.
Consider whether 200 GB across a year is enough for your student’s school tasks and other household use. Video-heavy activities can use data quickly; the offer does not promise enough capacity for every household’s full-time home internet needs.
Do you need to re-enroll each year?
The current family offer describes 200 GB per year for five years, but families should rely on the terms and account instructions shown for their own enrollment to understand how each year’s data is applied. Check the live program page and your account rather than assuming that a new application is required or that renewal happens in a particular way.

Why might an application be denied?
T-Mobile reviews applications, and a submission does not guarantee approval. Common document-fit problems include proof that is outside the one-year date window, expired or missing documentation, a document that does not name one of the qualifying programs, or a mismatch because the applying guardian’s name is absent and no requested ID was supplied. For Medicaid, a general insurance card without a clear Medicaid designation may not meet the requirement. Check the application’s current instructions and respond to any follow-up in your account or email.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How is the school-district option different?
There is a separate route for schools and districts. T-Mobile for Education says districts can apply on students’ behalf and offers district-specific data options. Those terms are not the same as the direct-to-parent family offer, so a parent should not assume district data amounts or arrangements apply to an individual household. Ask the school whether it participates or visit the T-Mobile for Education district page.
