BITS Pilani has appointed Prof. Mohan Krishnamoorthy as founding director of its upcoming Amaravati campus, effective January 2027. The institution says he will lead development of the campus’s academic, research, innovation and industry ecosystem. Its announcement names broad areas of focus but does not specify degree programmes, admissions dates or a campus opening date.

Who is Mohan Krishnamoorthy?
BITS Pilani describes Krishnamoorthy as a professor of operations research. The institution lists his current roles as Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor (India Engagement) at RMIT University and director of BITS Pilani’s Industry Research and Interactive Learning Solutions (IRIS). It also states that he holds a PhD from Imperial College London.
