Zerotone Construct review
A construction-focused accounting and field platform with deep WIP and job-cost controls.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
Built for general contractors and subcontractors, Zerotone Construct combines construction accounting with project and field workflows. Its double-entry general ledger uses a construction chart of accounts and records transactions by project and cost code. Accounting coverage includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, vendor 1099 eligibility, pay-application billing with retainage, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition and WIP schedules. Estimating, budgets, purchase orders, schedules, RFIs, submittals, change orders and field daily logs sit alongside the financial tools, serving small, mid-market and enterprise contractors.
The published plans show a 14-day trial without a credit card, while pricing is handled through contact sales. Starter covers RFIs, daily logs, submittals, estimates, budget control, purchase orders, bills, change orders, schedule control and email support. Professional adds SOV and pay-application billing, accounting and GL, vendor compliance, bidding analytics and inventory. Enterprise adds multi-company management, custom roles, dedicated onboarding and training, priority phone support and custom integrations. The platform runs in the cloud through the web, with connections for QuickBooks Online, P6, MS Project and Excel/CSV.
Its strongest differentiator is the link between operational commitments and financial reporting: purchase orders and vendor bills post automatically to the GL, while budgets, committed costs and actuals can be reviewed by cost code. Cash-flow, project P&L and financial reports extend that view across projects. Contractors seeking one system for job costing, WIP and field coordination should consider it, particularly when retainage and percentage-of-completion accounting are central. Teams that require native mobile applications, transparent published pricing or a longer-established adoption record may prefer to evaluate alternatives.
Zerotone Construct pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Double-entry GL links AP, AR, bank and job-cost coding.
- Retainage billing, percentage-of-completion WIP and cash-flow reporting.
- Field workflows connect RFIs, daily logs, submittals and change orders.
- Where it doesn't
- Custom contact-sales pricing limits upfront cost comparison.
- Web-only access may not suit teams needing native mobile apps.
- Young product with limited demonstrated adoption evidence.
