Zep is a long-term memory and context platform for AI agents and assistants. It ingests conversations, documents, JSON and business data, then organizes entities, relationships, facts and episodes into temporal Context Graphs. APIs and SDKs retrieve task-relevant context, while persistent user graphs support personalized memory and shared graphs cover accounts, projects or domains. Its audience includes teams that need governed memory across agent applications, from small projects through enterprise deployments.

The published plans use a freemium structure. Free includes 10,000 credits per month, two projects, one Memory MCP Server seat and five custom entity and edge types. Flex costs $125 per month and adds 50,000 monthly credits, 600 requests per minute, five projects, five Memory MCP Server seats, and unlimited memories, retrieval and users. Flex Plus costs $375 per month, raises the allowance to 200,000 credits and 1,000 requests per minute, and adds 10 projects, 15 Memory MCP Server seats, observations, webhooks and analytics. Enterprise provides custom credits and negotiated rates, guaranteed rate limits with an SLA, unlimited projects, BYOC deployment, SOC 2 Type II and a HIPAA BAA.

Zep’s standout capability is its temporal graph model, which keeps time-scoped facts alongside raw message, text and JSON episodes. Hybrid graph search, summaries, observations, custom types and configurable retention support applications that need evolving context rather than a static profile store. Policy-based access control, provenance and audit logging fit teams with governance requirements. Integrations include Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Vercel AI SDK, Google ADK and Model Context Protocol, with web and API access plus cloud or self-hosted deployment. Choose Zep when graph governance and temporal context justify the subscription; teams seeking a simpler memory layer or a lower paid starting point should compare alternatives.
