ZenTao brings project, product and portfolio management together with requirements, tasks, bugs, test cases, documentation and effort tracking. Its focus is software development and R&D processes, with support for Scrum, Kanban and waterfall. Teams that need to trace work from requirements through testing may value having these activities in one system; organizations seeking a general-purpose project tracker without development lifecycle functions may find that breadth unnecessary.

Deployment is a key distinction. ZenTao offers cloud service and an open-source edition for self-hosting. The open-source version is free with no time or user limit, while Cloud Free is limited to five users. Cloud Enterprise adds open-source edition features, dedicated resources and a 99.9% SLA. Cloud Flagship includes open-source and enterprise edition features, the same SLA and remote backups. Cloud IPD adds those earlier edition features and the IPD development model. The listed cloud prices are annual per-user amounts in CNY, with pricing starting at CNY 299. Choose between cloud and self-hosting based on how your team wants to deploy and manage the system.

The feature set extends beyond task boards: it includes dependencies, dashboards, time logs, effort tracking, configurable workflows, approval flows and an open API. Gantt charts are available in paid editions. The listed integrations are Git, GitLab, Jenkins and LDAP, so teams whose workflow depends on other named services should check fit before choosing ZenTao. Community and documentation are the stated support channels. ZenTao is a stronger fit when requirements traceability, bug tracking and test management belong in the same development workflow; teams that prioritize a broader integration set or do not need lifecycle management may prefer a narrower project tool.
