Our verdict on YourTube
YourTube is a focused-learning tool for students and other learners who study through YouTube. Its Chrome extension and web dashboard restrict browsing to selected playlists, channels, or videos, helping users keep study sessions within chosen learning material. It also supports exam preparation, online courses, self-taught development, and language learning. The product is designed to control YouTube distractions and reinforce study routines, rather than organize assignments, exams, revision cycles, or calendar-based academic plans.
The Free plan includes Focus mode, a study timer, cloud synchronization, a leaderboard, and unlimited sessions. Core features add goals and session tracking, while coins, rewards, and global leaderboard rankings provide a progress-oriented layer. The dashboard records study statistics and achievements, and video screenshots are saved with study data. Cloud sync allows progress to move across devices, making the product more useful for learners who switch between the extension and web dashboard. Account creation is required for some features.
YourTube’s strongest fit is for learners whose main challenge is staying inside approved YouTube content during study time. Its restrictions, timers, progress dashboard, and rewards create a focused routine without adding a paid tier. However, it should not be chosen as a conventional study planner: the product centers on YouTube behavior and study sessions, not assignment management, exam scheduling, revision planning, or broader academic workflows. Students who need those planning tools should choose an app built around academic calendars and task organization instead. Pick YourTube when controlling study-time browsing is the priority; look elsewhere when planning the full academic workload matters more.
