Our verdict on YouMacro
YouMacro is a free, open-source video downloader for Windows users who want to save videos from supported web pages. Its embedded browsing experience supports right-click downloads for one video, selected videos, or every detected video on a page. The vendor says it works with most social-media and video-hosting websites, including YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, Vimeo, and Dailymotion. It is designed around page detection rather than a broader multi-platform desktop or mobile workflow.
The Free plan includes no ads, no in-app purchases, and open-source access. Download controls cover selectable video resolution, audio-only downloads, custom local storage folders, and access to a download library from the toolbar. For larger queues, YouMacro supports hundreds of parallel downloads and automatically detects stalled threads and retries them. These features make it a practical fit for users collecting multiple page-detected videos rather than downloading a single file occasionally.
YouMacro’s strongest distinction is the range of selection-based workflows in a lightweight Windows application: users can target one video, videos near selected text, or all detected videos on a page. Light and dark Windows themes add a simple interface choice, while the vendor says the application does not include data collection. Choose YouMacro if Windows support, open-source software, page-level detection, and batch downloading are priorities. Users who need a non-Windows platform, AI features, or a workflow outside page-detected video downloads should look elsewhere.
