Our verdict on You-Attend
You-Attend is a hosted attendance and compliance application for higher-education institutions. It is designed for instructors and administrators who need attendance records inside an existing learning management system, with support for manual, code-based, online, and QR entry. Automatic registry creation, configurable statuses and thresholds, absence and tardy tracking, and exportable reports cover the core attendance workflow. Compliance-oriented tools include Pass/Fail Roster and Last Date of Attendance reporting, while quiz, word search, and crossword activities provide additional attendance options.
Licensing is institutional and organized by full-time-equivalent enrollment rather than student count. The plans cover four tiers: Institutional FTE under 5,000; Institutional FTE 5,000–10,000; Institutional FTE 10,001–25,000; and Institutional FTE over 25,000. Each listed tier includes attendance tracking and the Attendance Toolbox. There is no free plan. The product specification states a 30-day trial, while the Brightspace self-serve installation page describes a 45-day trial for Brightspace installations, giving prospective institutions a defined evaluation period before adoption.
Platform fit is the central consideration. You-Attend integrates with Canvas, Brightspace, and Moodle through LTI 1.3, and supports Assignment and Grade Services plus Names and Roles Provisioning Service. Gradebook integration and automatic grade updates can keep attendance outcomes connected to course records, while geolocation restrictions add control over check-ins. Institutions using one of these LMS platforms should find the feature set aligned with structured attendance and compliance workflows. Organizations seeking a standalone attendance product outside this ecosystem, or a free plan, should consider alternatives with a different deployment and pricing model.
