WPML is a paid WordPress plugin for businesses, agencies, bloggers, and site owners building multilingual websites. It translates pages, posts, products, forms, menus, strings, custom content, and media metadata for images, videos, and PDFs. The product supports 65 preconfigured languages and can be extended with custom languages, making it suited to WordPress projects that need more control than basic website translation. It is focused on website content rather than full uploaded-document translation.
Pricing follows three annual plans. Multilingual Blog costs €39 per year and includes standard translation controls, one production site, three development sites, and support and updates for one year. Multilingual CMS costs €99 per year and adds the Advanced Translation Editor, 90,000 AI translation credits, String Translation, Translation Management, WooCommerce and page-builder support, three production sites, and nine development sites. Multilingual Agency costs €199 per year and includes 180,000 AI translation credits, the advanced editor, String Translation, Translation Management, and unlimited production and development sites. There is no free plan.
WPML’s strongest fit is a WordPress workflow that combines human review, automatic translation, and structured terminology management. Automatic translation can use PTC, DeepL, Google Translate, and Microsoft Translator, while translation memory supports exact and fuzzy matching and glossary entries help manage preferred terminology. The Translation Dashboard tracks content and translation status, and XLIFF workflows connect translation services and CAT tools. WordPress hooks, shortcodes, constants, and REST API integration extend the product for technical implementations.
